Spain/Netheralnds today right? some attracive matchups in 1st games here...can't wait for Italy/England and US/Ghana
Another offsides? On the corner kick? That makes no sense- they were all bunched up in front of the goal. _
Hi Stokes That was a wrong call by the ref. They assumed the guy who first touched the ball after the corner kick was a Mexican player. In that case, the call would have been right but in this case they blew it because the first guy who touched the ball was a Cameroon player so it should have been a goal.
I just don't understand how when everyone is lined up in the crease (is that what it's called?) and there is a scrum with bodies flying all over the place- if a guy goes for a header and it's just him and the goalie, how does that become off sides? If he's got a guy right on his hip? _
My English is not perfect to explain but I will try. Maybe Barry or Yisman can explain better than me. The idea on the offside is, when your own team member touches a ball to pass you, between you and the goalkeeper there should be a defender. In our case, when Cameroon player touched the ball with his head he passed the ball to the Mexican player who scored the goal. And during the time when the ball left the head of the Cameroon player there was no defender between goal scoring Mexican player and the goalkeeper. Now the problem is, refs thought the pass came from the head of a Mexican player and called an offside. If in fact it came from a Mexican player it would have been offside since goal scoring Mexican guy was closest to the goal keeper. But it came from a Cameroon player so it should have been a goal. They blew it. For more info on Offside rule, you watch below video. Explanation starts at 0:48 mark
I guess this is the part that I don't understand. I understand the desire not to have goal hangars but a lead pass to me is a beautiful thing. _
The dutch are spanking Spain 5-1 , speechless, they want to finish top of group and not play brazil who play second place in next round( assuming brazil finishes first) Are th bookies involved?
I just got back from Brazil… the Stadium in Sao Paulo felt like it was going to fall apart. The stands look unsupported, the roof isn't finished, there are electrical wires hanging all over the place, missing seats… they carpeted over big pot hole looking things in the corridor. Loved it.
offsides doesn't negate a lead pass...so long as you ar even with, not behind the last defender at the time the ball is passed.
dude don't feed into the obnoxious soccer fan stereotype ; )......I've been saying "offsides" since I was 6 and will continue to do so.
For the next few days I' saying match and nil and pitch and offside. And then when it's all over I'm going back to real football terminology. Too bad George Carlin isn't around to do a bit on football versus futbol. _
ha, yes even as a huge soccer/football fan Iget a little queasy with the complete language changes: match, pitch, nil, clean sheet, fit, form and tactics= game, field, zero, shutout, 100% healthy, chemistry, formation.
NYC FC making big time moves!! Xavi coming to New York!!!!! David Villa, Lampard, and now Xavi are our DP's http://www.insidespanishfootball.com/115723/xavi-reportedly-set-to-join-new-york-city-fc/
Red Devils buy Di Maria. http://www.foxsports.com/soccer/sto...82614?cmpid=msn:foxsports:ansfox11>1=msnans They play Burnley on Saturday. Manchester United spent more today on Angel Di Maria than Burnley have spent on every player that they have ever bought in their 132 year history.
