What do you think about the new policy of doing away with actual paper tickets and using credit cards which will be swiped at the entrance for each game . As an old timer , I don't like this new policy . Just keep sending paper tickets . Too much technology . Thoughts ?

Are they dropping the price of the tickets because of the money they save on paper, ink, printing, and distribution?
    No.
    So keep sending the tickets.

You really think they would save money the first year of using a digital system? Id expect their costs initially would rise.

Id also expect this to make reselling tickets harder which could also be partially why they are doing it.

Sounds like an easier way for people to steal your CC info/identity

Wouldnt want most of the people I see at Metlife that scan tickets to gain access to that.

Just doesnt make sense. What would you show the usher that guards the section? Id guess some type of paper. Might as well just be a ticket.

One thing I hope they do with NFL season cards is something that is done in the Premier League. They
instituted a system with the cards called "loyalty points." The more you used the card
at games results in the more points you get. The club track your attendance, and when
game seats go on sale or are limited, you get first shot. This even works with away games. Although I doubt the
NFL will make it that far.

Digital is the way to go in this day and age. There are many ways to make this a reality. It doesn't have to be credit cards, they could email you an encrypted file to put on a flash drive or design a smart phone app that simulates a bar code to scan on the way in. I know a lot of people still fear online transactions and identity theft, but in reality this is unlikely at all to change the risk. There is no way they don't save money implementing it. It's a great idea and I'd be all for it. Embrace the digital era. We will merge with machine soon enough.

Just wait until the day they make you run that implanted microchip in your wrist to gain admission. This ain't nothin.

Google chip will own your soul. Smart phones will become obsolete. Digital only currency is right around the corner. Don't fear it.

Not a problem, now that we all have Failsafe, indestructible phones.

They should let people go digital as an option. That way the people who prefer the digital admission process will get what they want and the people who want old-fashioned tickets will get what they want. The customer is always right - getting them what they want is the key to most successful businesses.

It's hard to leave a digital swipe for somebody else at the box office or at the front desk at work or any of the myriad other ways that people will give their friends tickets to an event they are both attending.

so glad I no longer attend sporting events. Too much technology way too fast. It`s not needed. Technology is for the lazyass douchebags. Now someone get up and change the tv channel already. :)

Nothing like a remote card reader or a reasonably competent Hacker to flip this idea on its head. If they can steal CC numbers from Target, imagine the opportunity to hack 60K plus cc's. Unless their Cybersecurity is ironclad, this is a really bad idea.

    'green' scheme.

(and this from someone who works in the environmental science field: for starters, eliminating 'paper tix' stubs wouldn't add up to zilch relative to the solid waste generated from beer/soda containers and hotdog wrappers - think about it: book marker-size stubs vs. a consessionaire's "big gulp" and hot dog wrapper & tray).
