ESPN/PFF "loves" the Jets roster going into the season. not! Ranked 23rd.

Media bias. Every media outlet that doesn't rank the Jets in the top echelon of talent sucks. God forbid this evaluation might be spot on. That would mean this FO/CS is indeed fallible and there's no way that could be possible. The reality is we won't know until the season is over where the talent really rates on this roster. Until then, its all either media bias or homerism. When it comes to this fanbase, there is no middle ground.

Yeah. I'm more optimistic probably than I should be because I'm banking around half of our investments pay off or young players develop. I don't think that's too ridiculous expect but at the same time, I am making an assumption that these rankings sites try to avoid.

I would love to see someone do these rankings for Jets beat writers.

The receivers are likely to be better. The secondary is likely to be better. The QB play is likely to be better. No other area of the team has gotten worse. I just think things like the PFF ranking are bogus at this point.

Last year everybody said the Jets were 29 to 32 overall and they finished with the 18th pick in the draft. This year people see them as 23 to 26 overall and I'd be shocked if they don't have a pick in the bottom half of the draft again.

Little things like the coherency and depth of the defensive front and the depth at RB really mean something in terms of the Jets ability to navigate the always tricky currents the NFL season presents. The QB is going to be a plus this year one way or the other. The Jets have about a million defensive backs this season including some real young talent getting grounded in the NFL. The receivers are BIG. Some of them are fast too. All of the big guys have a rep as good hands guys as well.

If Eric Decker had gone to the Patriots the early line on him would be: finally Tom Brady has an outside receiver to work with again.

They know that crapping on the Jets gets them hits from people who don't like the Jets. It's a business and they're trying to make money.

And Giants kids and Tebow kids and Revis kids, etc. Lots of people gain satisfaction from hating on a particular team on a regular basis. It's partly a bully thing and partly a self-esteem thing and fully a waste of time but they do it any way.

The only 3-4 end better than Big Mo is Watt. Period.

If your team got outscored by 90+ points while posting some -20+ turnover differential, and still managed to get 8-8, that's the kind of treatment you'd get from the talking heads. If that above stat [-98 net points/-21 TO differential] happened to other teams, that team probably posted some record in tune of 4-12. [Which warrants 28th-32nd rank]

Up until your following post, I also thought you were talking about Chandler Jones, who has shown some promise. His brother Arthur is the pure definition of JAG, hilarious that you would put him in the top 5 of 3-4 DEs.

And yeah, maybe provide an argument for each one, instead of pleas for insults.

I enjoyed some of PFF's data breakdowns and analysis last year, but sometimes, the conclusions they draw are really weird. I lost a lot of respect for them and just generally had a "WTF" moment with the stunt they pulled with the Defensive Rookie of the Year. I was following that column the entire season, and the entire year, maybe minus the first week or two, Richardson was number one in their rookie rankings. Not cumulatively I mean, but for that week, Richardson had the best score of any rookie, every single week. Then somehow at the end, they picked him third or fourth for DROY, despite him being the best rook every week, which just blew my mind. They had some half assed explanation for it. Fortunately the people with the votes felt differently, but what the hell was that...

As far as the talent we have, yeah we still have lots of holes and questions marks, but overall, I am pretty happy with our progression. We've come a long way talent-wise from a couple of years ago.

Whatever they say doesn't matter. It's what happens on any given Sunday. They may not be Super Bowl contenders, but this team has the potential to get better with efficient offense and a good defense.

This ranking is based on so many subjective factors that it's about as relevant as Strength of Schedule and Power Rankings at this point.

The media is producing fluff this time of year, but as much as I have suspected PFF of questionable analysis in the past, I still expected more from them than producing a half-assed list like this.

I guess tis the season. The Jets could end up anywhere in the spectrum this year depending on injuries and young player development, but sheer speculation like the OP list is weak.

That's not an argument for any of the players you listed.

I asked you to make an argument for the four players not named Watt as to why they are superior to Wilkerson. You said some vague crap about motors and disappearing but you avoided the question and then started masturbating about a Pats player.

Do you have any reason why any of those players should be ranked higher than Wilkerson?

    Anything of substance?
