The "L" isn't as pleasant to the eye as "XXX" was back in the 1995 season. Apparently this is a 1 year deal. http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/11031941/nfl-take-one-year-hiatus-roman-numerals-super-bowl-50 I wish they would go back to the unique logos they used to have pre 2010.
It's probably only a 1 year deal if the focus groups they have liked Roman numerals better. If "50" is popular, don't be surprised if they continue with standard numerals.
LI doesn't look much better next year to be honest. Until LIV they will look kinda weird to be honest.
Great point. L and LI are not much different. LII, LIII, all look the same. L is a roman numeral for 50. The NFL is making a mistake on this one. Super Bow L is fine with me.
Stupid. Idiot billionaires over analyzing thinking that the public won't watch because of the letter L. WTF? L is great! It's the beginning of a whole new set. It's important and it's an American tradition. Give us the damn L. They didn't change it when it was V or X. What, does the letter L make them seem weak? Trying to ditch the Roman gladiator concept? L is mega. They have no idea. Eventually it'll be Superbowl M which will be even more momentous.
And in the distant future our ancestors will be able to watch the tastiest Superbowl ever, Superbowl Mmm...
It's sad that they thought they probably had to do this because 3/4 of the population would have no idea what L meant.
I'd bet on it, if I could. Gotta wait until next season for the new odds to come out. I bet on the Jets winning the bowl every year, because the odds are usually so great, dropping 5 bucks to win 400+ is nice and one of these days, it's bound to pay off.... at least I hope
