Does Tim Tebow still believe there's a job for him in the NFL?

Does Tim Tebow still believe there's a job for him in the NFL?

The player, it seems, is always the last to know.

While everyone else in the front offices of NFL teams has come to the realization that Tim Tebow likely will never be a quarterback in the league, Tebow -- now a college football analyst and host of the "SEC Nation" pregame show -- still holds out hope.

As he spoke to The Tennessean about his career in the booth, he hinted that he's keeping his cell phone on -- you know, in case anyone calls with a roster spot open for an erratic left-handed quarterback with lousy mechanics and a media circus.

"I'm training every day and feel like I'm the best that I've ever been," Tebow said. "I still love it, love playing, talking about it, and I'm just excited about whatever the future holds. Who knows what could happen? But I'm excited about it, though."

After a magical run through the playoffs in 2011 with the Denver Broncos, Tebow spent a wasted season with the Jets in 2012, then was cut by the New England Patriots in preseason last year.

He has shunned job offers in Canada and indoor leagues, but continues to work out. While in Nashville, he coaxed receivers from the Nashville Venom Professional Indoor Football Team to run routes for him for two days, the Tennessean said.

As Andy Dufresne says in a note to Redd in The Shawshank Redemption: "Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies."

Heard this on Colin Cowherd this am.

If Tebow still LOVES playing football, then he should go play football. In Canada or in the Arena league.

He doesn't LOVE playing football, he LOVES the idea of only playing QB and only in the NFL.

He needs to hone his craft in live games. If it's not the NFL then he needs to get as much reps as he can. Swallow your pride and do what's necessary.

Tebow is a terrible qb. Tebots used to get so mad when I said that. They couldn't handle the truth.

Holy shit - in this article he only gets a one sentence quote, yet Teblow STILL manages to fit in the word "excited" twice.

How he could pass up a chance to play for the L.A. KISS in the arena league is beyond me!

I agree. If he had been more open to a position switch then he'd probably still be playing. I think the Jets were using him correctly on special teams. If he really wanted to play, he could be some teams special teams guy, play a bit of FB or TE, do some gadget plays, and be their emergency QB.

All the "best teammate ever, he'll do anything to win" talk coming out of college has been disproven repeatedly. As has his "I plan on doing charity work overseas after I retire from the NFL". Next thing you know we'll find out he's not actually christian. What a fraud. Some players are just selfish.

Tebow's window to get an AFL job is going to close as he gets older. He needs to jump on that soon.

Yeah but the QB of the LA Kiss is a proven winner and player in the AFL. Tebow's no spring chicken and in a year or two his auto-in as a QB somewhere in the AFL is going to turn into "well let's take a look and see what he's got" and believe me he needs that auto-in. The AFL is a passers league.

He would be terrible in the AFL. Since it's played in a confined space it's important to be accurate and since it's not as spread out it would hurt his running game tremendously.

He's making the right decision not playing there, although a team would gladly take him on and be terrible and not care because they need the publicity, the $$ from his followers and people in the seats.

He'd probably be successful in Canada but it looks like he either has too much pride to give it a shot or he is delusional about getting another NFL shot. Either way I'm glad he and his sorry groupies are not not here anymore. 2012 was my least favorite Jets season since the Kotite years. It's such a breathe of fresh air that Tebow and Sanchez are gone and this organization is moving forward from that mess.

I think if he really wanted to play QB he would have went to the CFL. We've seen this with other players before (Kordell Stewart) where they're talented enough to play another position but they just "need" to be a QB because that's their dream. I think Brad Smith played it smart. Just play special teams, a bit of QB, a bit of WR, etc.
