Vick served years in jail and from all accounts has turned his life around. He's beloved by his teammates. Incognito has been an ass everywhere he's been. He was last seen as the ringleader in a bullying scandal that pushed his teammate to suicidal thoughts. Vick is also a lot better at his job than Incognito is at his. Apples and oranges.
Thank You. Not sure why anyone would want this mediocre nut-job on the team..... the only other FA linemen I may want less is his pansy homeboy Martin. This isn't Jonathan Odgen looking for a team...... btw, yes, I also think Mike Vick is a POS, but the situations in regarding team chemistry is apples to oranges
Yeh dude, the big difference between the two guys is that one is able to move on and "grow" (allegedly...) and the other has a string of similar situations resulting in his being cut... I dont get why people would compare the two
The big difference between the two, is that one of them is a convicted felon who had to be removed from society.
Yeh i get it, theres a huge stigma in our society against people that have been to prison. But if we are just gonna damn them once they get out anyway why bother with the whole process at all?
This thread is a joke, right? Or do some of you actually believe Idzik would sign him even if he was the last healthy OL out there?
Yeah no to both in an ideal world. I didn't want Vick, still don't BECAUSE of his character issues, or lack of actually. But he's here and is now a Jet...for a year hopefully, then adios dick-head a lot of lip biting in 2014.......... One absolute tosser on the team is enough and no matter how many times he apologizes , he still did what he did, consciously. He is now an OK QB and will be serviceable to us, end of story. We all have different ideas on cruelty, and what is worse. But Incognito is one nasty bit of work and needs to sort himself out if its at all possible. For those that keep calling him mental, you may very well be right. From what I've read and seen he seems to have psychopathic traits and that is something that may be able to be controlled by meds, but it will probably mean he won't be eligible to play football, how sad
Vick became a convicted felon and was removed from society seven years ago. Incognito was still being a douchebag less than eight months ago. BIG difference there as to why/when you'd sign a guy with massive baggage. _
As low as my opinion is of Incognito's baggage, and it is pretty low, there are players in the NFL who have done much worse and still get to play. That said, I don't want him on the team.
The thing about Michael Vick that is getting ignored was that he was put back on the playing field as soon as possible after he was released from prison. When you look at how other players are treated, what's happened to Incognito seems like a raw deal.
What you and others supporting dirtbag Incognito fail to recognize is that what Vick did had absolutely nothing to do with football, the locker room, his teammates, the team, or the NFL. On the other hand, Incognito has a long history of football-related, locker room-related, teammate-related incidents that have led him to be kicked off every college and pro team he has ever played for. There is a huge difference between the two. Incognito's issues are all football-related. I don't think any NFL is going to touch him. And rightfully so.
Hey, before you try and portray someone as having a particular opinion, you should probably try reading their posts a little more carefully to make sure that what you're saying makes sense. In the post that I made right before the post the one that you quoted, I said "I don't want him on the team." HOW THE HELL CAN YOU INFER THAT I AM SUPPORTING HIM FROM THAT STATEMENT? With that said, I have two responses to your comment, Other players do things that have plenty to do with the locker room and have less trouble staying on a team (ie Santonio Holmes, Terrell Owens). The NFL shouldn't and doesn't solely concern itself with dirtbag conduct that only that affects the locker room. So "dog fighting doesn't have anything to do with the locker room" is not a relevant distinction. And I wasn't specifically thinking of Vick even though I commented about him. There's a ton of other examples that can be contrasted with Incognito/Martin.
If you had to choose between a serial douchebag (1 year since last offence), and a serial animal abuser (7 years since last offence), who would you choose to represent the green and white? I choose neither. The latter is way more sinister in nature, and unfortunately does now represent the green and white. No way I'd compound upon that by signing Incognito, but lets not pretend Vick's past is more acceptable.
Somethings never go away. The Richard Gere-gerbil thing has never gone away and I am sure Richie Incognito thing will never go away. Part of it is the way the media sets it up and the other thing is how we remember it.
Neither is ideal but I choose Vick because (i) it's in the rear view mirror, (ii) it did not involve football or the team or teammates or the lockerroom and (iii) Vicks crime, while reprehensible and inexcusable was a function of his culture and upbringing while Incognitos crime, to me, is a function of his f-ed up douchebag personality. _
And I'm not excusing Vick--I'm a dog owner and dog lover and what he did--repeatedly--was reprehensible. But Vick wasn't raised like you and me. He was raised in a different culture where dogfighting and gambling on dogs and killing underperforming dogs and the training of dogs is accepted. Not excusing it, not saying he's not to blame. But that was how he was raised. And some of these guys can't leave that stuff behind when they hit the big time. Incognito is just a douchebag. _
