Might as well put IK as an OLB

Never heard of him and just looked him up, he will definitely be an OLB. Glad we finally drafted one! He looks good

At this point I would pencil in Vick and Dozier as starters.

Winters is an accident waiting to happen.

If our plan was to start him again we should have drafted 12 QBs.

    Let's make it easy:

All but guaranteed to make the roster (39):
QB (2): Geno Smith, Mike Vick
RB (3): Chris Johnson, Chris Ivory, Bilal Powell
    FB (1): Tommy Bohannon
WR (3): Eric Decker, Jeremy Kerley, David Nelson
TE (3): Jace Amaro, Jeff Cumberland, Zach Sudfeld
OL (7): D'Brickashaw Ferguson, Brian Winters, Nick Mangold, Willie Colon, Breno Giacomini, Dakota Dozier, Oday Aboushi
DL (5): Mo Wilkerson, Damon Harrison, Kenrick Ellis, Sheldon Richardson, Leger Douzable
OLB (2): Quinton Coples, Calvin Pace
ILB (2): David Harris, Demario Davis
CB (5): Dee Milliner, Kyle Wilson, Dmitri Patterson, Dexter McDougle, Darrin Walls
S (3): Calvin Pryor, Antonio Allen, Dawan Landry
ST (3): Nick Folk, Ryan Quigley, Tanner Purdum

Which leaves us 14 spots for competitions:
QB (1): Tajh Boyd, Matt Simms
RB (1): Mike Goodson, Alex Green, [assorted camp fodder]
    FB (0)
WR (3-4): Jalen Saunders, Shaq Evans, Quincy Enunwa, Stephen Hill, Jacoby Ford
    TE (0)
OL (1-2): Will Campbell, Caleb Schlauderaff, Dalton Freeman
DL (0-2): Tevita Finau, TJ Barnes, [camp fodder]
LB (4-7): Garrett McIntyre, Trevor Reilly, Jeremiah George, IK Enemkpali, Nick Bellore, Troy Davis, Jermaine Cunningham, [camp fodder]
CB (1-2): Jeremy Reeves, Ellis Lankster, Brandon Dixon, I-Ras Dowling
S (1-2): Josh Bush, Jaiquawn Jarrett

I listed the 27 most likely guys to make the roster, and bolded my picks/guesses. That means there's 13 guys left over. 8 of them can go to the practice squad. Granted, one or two of those guys might get poached by other teams, and there might be some late drops that we're interested in, so, in all likelihood, we're only going to have to part with between five and seven of the above-listed players, I think. There won't be too many difficult decisions, I don't think.

pretty hard to categorize players on the depth chart aside from a few obvious cases.

the WR corp in a particular is REALLY hard to figure out. Hill for example is no guarantee to be on the roster, but putting him beneath the rookies as of now seems to be jumping the gun, he's a vet so he's higher until proven otherwise no matter what we THINK might happen.

That's my list of who is going to make it barring an upset. I think the Jets have 32 or so solid slots and then 21 slots that will be filled by the best player. The practice squad will absorb some of the draftees and a fair number of vets will get cut.

Tommy Bohannon is a perfect example of a player on the bubble this year that might not be in another season. He's not competing with another FB, he's competing with Jace Amaro and Sheldon Richardson, both of whom will take some snaps away from him.

that sounds like a lot of wishful thinking to me. As of today, even considering use of a third round pick, there is no obvious starting Cb opposite Milliner on the roster.

We currently have 83 on the roster including the draftees which have not been signed but does not include the UDFAs so we will have at least 40 cuts coming up. The idea of most of these people making the team is remote.

I think it's pretty obvious that either Walls or McDougle will start. Whether either of them can do it effectively enough remains to be seen.

Guess you've got a point though he hasn't played anywhere near a full season in four years so McDougle or Walls will probably be getting the start for a significant portion of the season one way or another.

We might not have our other starting corner on the roster yet. We could trade for a guy or add a training camp cut.

The cb problem is massively overblown. Milliner should be better than last year and anybody will be better than Cro last year, that's how bad he was. Boom - instant improvement. The depth at cb (we have like 83 cbs, we'll fine 4 who can play), combined with Pryor really improving the backend hopefully, and you have the most overblown story of the offseason.

I tend to agree. Actually didn't realize that Patterson was signed for $2.5M and with those kinds of injury concerns that must mean he would've commanded something like at least $4-5M if he had a healthy history. He should do a fine job if he stays in one piece, the draft pick looks like he has real upside if not and Walls can probably hold the fort if the rookie needs time to develop and Patterson can't stay on the field. I'd really like to see Ed Reed brought back and I'd feel very good about the secondary.

I suppose being a homer makes the off season more pleasant. But then when you go into the regular season, one's wishful thinking tends to be followed by a rude awakening. I must dislike rude awakenings more than you.

If anybody on the roster last year was better than Cro, how come he started all year?

Instant improvement. Heh! Like I said, it must be nice to be a homer. For awhile anyway.
