Here we go fellas ... Once upon a time a LB who was 5'10" was drafted in the 5th round .... Zach Thomas. This guys scouting report sounds like ZT's. A tackling machine! Good work ethic non stop motor. Lets get this guy in camp and see what he brings to the table and what haps ... I like it ... Hey it's the 5th round roll the dice and let the chips fall where they may. Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
I think we might have something here fellas. I really like what I see here. Made s couple nice plays here against CJ Fed the highly touted TE. I'm not concerned with his. This is Idzik looking to be ahead of the curve. The game os trending towards smaller ILB. This guys tenactity appears to be off the charts. Exactly what u want for training camp competition. I like this pick. I like him better than Avery Williamson now Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
Zach Thomas was same size/type/ and 5th round pick. London Fletcher isn't an inch over 5'10. Maybe that's a reach, maybe he doesn't pan out-- but you don't find anyone without warts in the 5th round. I trust the FO and coaches more on LB evaluation than fellow posters here-- but that's just me. Board was blowing up last year on Sheldon Richardson, who going into the draft was not on most experts 1st Round mock. That turned out just fine so far.
Kid mentioned that he enjoys pass coverage duties. Rex loves being multiple and this kid might be a good nickel backer/st fit for us. Probably immediate upgrade over bellore, we shall see.
Cyclone fan here. Obviously I'm VERY excited to see the Jets picking up Iowa State players. Paul Rhoads instills a physical, chip on the shoulder attitude in his defenders, which seems to be part of what the Jets look for in players. Remember that Rex Ryan talked up UDFA Jake McDonough last offseason as well, even though he ended up being cut thanks to the defensive line depth. As far as Jeremiah George goes, I love the pick for both the player and the team. He's a guy that likes to go to work in practice every day. On the field, he had a great nose for the ball carrier, as is shown by his tackling numbers. Unfortunately, his size leaves something to be desired as far as the next level goes, as he is in fact 5' 11". He'll be great on special teams this year and has a chance to compete for a starting spot next year while he learns to play for a season, which is the best possible situation for George. Even if it doesn't work out for him to start, I think he'll stick on the roster for a few years as a quality special teamer like Ellis Lankster. A great use of a 5th round pick.
