If not going to playoffs might as well get compensated in the draft. Only time losing pay, might as well take advantage of it.
Which means next to nothing. The Patriots had last second wins all through this year and last, but they are praised for it. Plus there were other games we almost won. Rooting for your team to lose to improve draft position is pretty much the reason why so many Jets fans have gone insane. Remember the 70s, where we didn't have a winning record for 11 years straight? In a 28 year span, we had a winning record just 5 times and that included 6-3 and 8-7-1. Is that something you want to live through again, just to have a chance at a higher rated prospect? With a good scouting dept, you don't need that.
good post the only time I might hope we tanked would be if we were having a terrible season anyway and there was an Andrew Luck caliber QB prospect coming out.
"Bleedgreen" change your user name to pussysissyboy. Only a loser roots for their team to lose. Fuck the draft
people get so hung up with draft positions. If anything history has proven that picking anywhere in the draft is no guarantee that player will transition into the NFL at an elite or good level. The ratings for players go up and down based on peoples perceptions. Win all the games you can. Then just try to draft as best as possible and then see how it pans out.
I hate Miami, but knowing a loss would have given us better picks and maybe a new HC, I really wish we had lost.
I doubt that any coaches / GMs find that logical. If you tank, you never know what talent you actually have and where you have to go to improve it. I don't think any football team on the planet tanks intentionally, unless it's late season and they only have 2-3 wins. The idea of tanking an entire season is ludicrous, especially in the NFL where "any given sunday" holds true for the most part. Nobody wants to be the Jaguars. They've had a top 10 pick every year since 2011.
