    Maybe the best backup QB of all time.

    Would have been a Super Bowl champion if it wasn't for those pesky Jets.

    Actually, Earl was on two SB winning teams after those pesky Jets.

    I was going to say ...b-b-but Eason! Unfortunately you appear to be right. Anyway, a good football player, though probably he and not Namath was the Jets' MVP in the Super Bowl.

    My dad used to joke that the real reason the Jets won was because some major crime families had placed huge money on them with some Vegas bookies and they'd threatened Earl's family if he didn't throw the game. It actually makes a bit of sense considering how badly he played.

    The whole world bet on the Jets (at least the smart ones did) they were 17 1/2 point underdogs.
