Personally the more I think about it the more I think that the Jets will go CB first round and the more it makes sense. We are in a better position with WR right now then were are with CB, and we can always draft a WR in the second round with a deeper pool. I can even see the jets moving up a couple of spots to snag Denard or Gilbert.
    What do you guys think?

I hope we draft a DL in the first and a CB in the second just to piss everyone off

I hope receiver. If Geno is the guy then we need to put guys around him and build up the offense.

Smh if Hill wasn't a bust we'd be set at receiver.

A month ago I would have said WR 100% because I figured we would get a corner in Free Agency... As of today, it's really 50/50... I wouldn't be mad at either choice to be honest... Draft is so deep and our corner problems are so magnified, we might have to go Corner.

    wr and here is why.
the cb position is no worse than it was last year and we had a playoff caliber defense. we have cb'son the roster that will give us the same production cro gave us in 2013.
the offense however was a major problem devoid of competent talent and no depth what so ever. i believe this is the year the skill positions are taking care of for the next 3 years and it starts with the 18th pick and either lee, obj or cooks, ebron is the wild card. expect a few cb's taken in the 4th thru 7th to keep the competition mantra but a heavy dose of offense is coming in 3 weeks

In terms of future production, the NFL did a ten year study in published inApril 2012 by Barnwell ('96-'07) that showed WR and DB draftees were 84/80 % more likely to start from day one and continue to contribute to the team if taken in rounds 1-4. After round 4 ,your production dropped off dramatically to 48% for all positions. QB rating fell to 38%. So if we start with either /or it probably is good for the Jets down the road. Googled this article this morning and it's making me feel little more confident bout selection choices.

I don't think Idzik would trade up in the 1st round. IMO that would be exceedingly foolish.

I do think he is likely to take a CB because Rex bases his defense on his CB play. I wish he would force Rex to alter his defensive strategy and refuse to take yet another CB in the 1st round, and maybe not even in the 2nd round. While there will be good WRs in the 2nd round, there won't likely be Cooks, Beckham or Lee and I think the Jets need one of those 3. I think by-passing the opportunity to take one of them would be a big mistake that they would rue for years.

We often disagree, but not on this. I hope to God that you are right on this and that is what Idzik does. The only exception to that I'd make is possibly adding a pass rusher somewhere in the 2nd-4th rounds; otherwise, I hope the first 4-5 picks are all on offense.
