Was debating doing one this year, but decided to give it a shot. I'll just be looking at the first 4 rounds in detail, which covers the Jets' first 6 picks (out of 12).

As I did last year, I want to make it clear that this is based strictly off things I have read, highlight videos, and gut-feelings. I have not scouted these players, but they are players that I feel like match up BPA and the Jets needs well. I may have some players too low, some players too high, but that's the case with every single Mock Draft out there.

    1st Round (18)
Odell Beckham, Jr | WR | LSU
He will be able to instantly step-in and improve the PR for the Jets, and also add a new dynamic to the offense. This pick will help continue to revamp the WR position and put players like Hill (who I am expecting to make the team still, he is only 23 years old and still has tons of potential) and Nelson down a peg to the 4th & 5th WRs.

    2nd Round (49)
    Austin Seferian-Jenkins | TE | Washington
ASJ is built in the mold of the "New TE" in the NFL. He has the potential to be a big-play TE, with the ability to line-up as a traditional TE and to flex into the slot. Pairing him with Cumberland, and C.J. Fiedorowicz (below), will give the Jets a very formidable TE group for years to come. He needs to get a little stronger, but I have faith that being in an NFL strength & conditioning program will get him to where he needs to be. Also flashes the potential to be a solid blocker, but will be a work-in-progress.

    3rd Round (80)
Kyle Van Noy | OLB | BYU
With Calvin Pace being a little long in the tooth, and the Jets needing a pass-rushing presence from the outside to match up with their DL. He will likely find time in sub-packages as a pass-rushing specialist as a rookie, and will have the opportunity to learn under Pace (who's role is very underrated by most Jets fans) and eventually take over as the every-down OLB. Needs to be coached up to clean up some techniques, but I have faith that Karl Dunbar can make him an effective pass-rusher.

    4th Round (104)
Dri Archer | RB | Kent St.
Archer will bring the game breaking ability to the Jets that they haven't had in years. I've seen him compared to Jamaal Charles, and if he can bring any of that ability to the Jets, they will be very well off. While he is undersized, he has the ability to take a simple run or screen to the house any time he touches the ball. He is also fairly accomplished as a KR, where the Jets were average-at-best last year.

    4th Round (125)
    C.J. Fiedorowicz | TE | Iowa
Time to double-dip at TE and completely revamp the position! He isn't the flashiest of the TEs in the draft, which may cause him to fall a little more than he should. C.J. won't be a game breaker, but will be a very solid presence in the offense. He is a solid blocker and has dependable hands. He isn't going to outrun the defense or put up great YAC, but he will be a reliable outlet for Smith, or Vick.

    4th Round (137)
Terrence Brooks | FS | Florida St.
Brooks is a little raw, but has a very desirable size/speed combo. He may only be 5'11", but he is a very long 5'11" and was very impressive in his combine testing. 4.42 seconds on the 40-yard dash, 38" vertical jump, and 119" broad jump were all among the top of the class for safeties. He would definitely have to be coached up, but could become a roaming centerfield-type safety.

    Thoughts:

    1) Don't like not getting one CB in the first four rounds. Something really bad had to have happened value wise or something to not pull the trigger on getting one CB among the first six picks.

    2) Two TEs are kind of a redundancy unless Sudfeld matters nothing into their plans. I think Fiedorowicz or Niklas are legit options as blocking TEs who can turn into full time starters for years to come....just don't know if CJ lasts until the middle of round 4. I'd love it but it has to be awesome if he made it to our 1st 4th round pick.

    3) I want Archer badly but if Chris Johnson signs on, that might kill any shot of getting him I think. Well unless he's there by round 5 or something.

    4) KVN falling to round 3 is crazy.....no less the middle of round 3. He seems like a 2nd round lock at this point.

I do really like the players added though.

I love the players selected but I doubt KVN is there in the third. If he is, great! Not a fan of taking CJ when we already got ASJ. We need to fill other holes, like OLine which you didn't address in the first 4 rounds. Also, no corner in the first 4 rounds scares me. I don't wanna go into the season with Milliner/Wilson as our corners. We need to address CB early on.

What exactly is a "very long" 5'11, is that like a very short 5'8?

Long arms and good jumping ability, mostly.

He plays taller than his height would indicate is what I meant really

Really like this draft as a whole. It's ridiculous that Van Noy's stock is dropping like it is. He's one heck of a ball player and I'd be all for trading up in the late second or early third to get him if we had to.

I wish we had a shot at Watkins or Evans but we don't so I'd be okay with Cooks, Lee, or ODB just hope to god we don't take Benjamin. Hopefully Walls, Wilson, and Patterson can step up and play corner so we don't have to waste another 1st round pick.

Not sure about double dipping at TE (likely would pick a CB instead) and if van not will be available but, overall, I would be happy with this draft assuming we get a CB at some point.
