Good trade for us IMO. His base salary is like $1.8 million for this year. Low risk, top 15 type WR reward. I'm guessing Ebron or Matthews is the pick @ #9?
Im not going to sit here and say its a bad pickup because if the Jets made this trade we would all be happy. He does have baggage though.
NFL: AroundTheLeague @NFL_ATL 18m Doug Marrone says drama with Mike Williams at Syracuse is "in the past for both of us." http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap2000000339454/article/marrone-college-issues-with-williams-are-in-the-past?campaign=Twitter_atl…
Not bad for a 6th round pick but 6 games last year due to hamstring tear and now dealing with getting stabbed in the leg. Has the skills to be a decent #2 but after this season he goes up to $8-8.5M a year,do they cut bait if he doesn't show anything this year? Also claiming top 15 for a receiver who has never been in the top 15 yet since he has been in the league is a little bit of a stretch.
The Buffalo Williams There are now SEVEN players that have the last name "Williams" on the Bills roster, and six should make the final cut: Mario, Kyle, Aaron, Duke, Mike, Chris, and Nathan...only Nathan probably won't make the team this year. Crazy...Bills = Williams...get it? Look for Mike Williams to have his full name on his jersey, as there is already an "M. Willaims" Gotta admit that this is a very good pickup by the Bills. There is very little risk, if you look at the contract. And Mike Williams is a decent #2 receiver. He generally had good production with Josh Freeman throwing him the ball. Also, Williams was born and raised in Buffalo...that's his hometown. Going back there could be good for him, dunno.
Interesting notes of him being from Buffalo, and also reuniting with his former coach.. I think this is a solid move from the Bills. The Bucs now have a serious need at WR though, which worries me draft wise.
I think it was a good pickup for them, injuries are going to be the only worry but well worth the risk for a 6th round pick.
