Multiple, but I said I'm bought in. We're going to find cheap old talent cut by other teams and were going to have the best draft ever and have multiple impact rookies.m

Idzik is line on ESPN NY right now. He was just discussing Desean. "He definitely is an extreme talent in a position of need and we will pursue and evaluate our options. But this is a deep draft with many impact players that are also in our positions of need."

    So......

Just think on it. Couple days ago Jets had upper hand bc Philly was going to cut Djax. He tweets everything is good & Philly gets upper hand

The Eagles want the Jets third round pick for Jackson and this is their way of scheming the Jets into giving it to them.

Sounds like we just gotta chill and let Idzik be Idzik.
(whatever you want to make of that :D)

The Jets can get a potentially great receiver in the 1st and a good receiver in the 3rd or 4th if they want, they will never give up their 3rd to get Jackson as good as he is, nor should they.

seems like to me Philly wants to get as many picks in this draft. they know it's a loaded draft class. want a 3 for Jackson and Mathis.

If the Eagles cut Jackson, the Jets chances of getting him drop. They should just trade the pick and secure his services if they really want him.

I don't think he's worth a third with that current contract

it isn't an issue of simply really wanting him. it is an issue of really wanting him if the value is right.

I think you're right on that and here's why: if anything negative happens with DeSean Jackson next season, an injury, a drop in performance, an off-the-field incident, a personality clash with the team in general, he's likely to be cut at $10M cash and cap for 2015 and 2016.

A 3rd round pick is an asset that you can project moving forward into the team's build plan. It may pan out or not pan out but your cut and run point isn't going to be as early as 2015. With Jackson there's a very real possibility that the cut and run point could be in 2015 at the cash and cap number he would carry.

The reason Jackson is a risk is that the Jets would have no future cap difficulties from letting him go and only the investment of a 2014 3rd round pick, a sunk cost, as the price of releasing him. There are many scenarios in which Jackson gets released under that general context.

The Eagles are purportedly considering releasing him now and he has future costs for them associated with his current deal if they do that. The Jets would be less encumbered than the Eagles are right now and we have to realize that there is a real chance the Jets would be looking at releasing Jackson just a year down the road.

A 3rd round pick is a heavy price to take on somebody else's dilemna.

I thought that $10 million cap hit in 15 and $8 million in 16 is only if he is on the team since it is all salary. Is that incorrect?

It's 10.75M in 2014 and 10M in 2015 and 2016 and yes, it's only if he makes the roster, although I don't know when the workout bonuses are due.

This is why Jackson would be an easy cut next year if anything went wrong.

So when we don't end up landing Jackson because we took our time ,What's gonna be said after this happens?Yea I know the deepest draft in 65 years followed by Idzik being carried over the shoulders of TGG posters and the elusive "gatorade bath" and parade

The issue here is that nothing blew up in Idzik's face in the DRC negotiations. The guy signed for $10.5 mil in his first year with the Giants. If you want DRC for that cap number, then it's you with the issues, not Idzik.
