Vilma would be a terrible OLB in the 3-4...Bryan Thomas fits the mold of a 3-4 outside LB perfectly...Vilma is nothing like Thomas. He had a bad game...lets move on.

i agree he is better suited for a 4-3, but a 10 tackle, fumble recovery game isn't too bad...sure he made some mistakes, but if thats his worst game, i can live with it

There are going to be a whole lot of people eating crow and apologizing to champ if this kind of play continues. Hopefully we can chalk up his poor play this year to adjusting to the 3-4. It certainly isn't time to "panic" but I disagree that there shouldn't be concern when the guy that is expected to be the anchor of our defense now and for the future looks as bad as he did yesterday.

In the 3-4 MLB's are supposed to be big men, huge men at that. We need to move him outside where he can rome, he's quicker then he is stronger.

Did you watch the game? He was lost on almost every play.

The best player on our D is Kerry Rhodes. Vilma hasn't looked all that good this year and last year he was making tons of tackles after 4 and 5 yard gains. This team needs a big time NT and a beast at OLB. If we are committed to a 4/3 long term it wouldn't shock me if we trade Vilma.

Huh? OLB's in the 3-4 are supposed to be fast, and they are supposed to send the ball carrier to the middle where the BIG strong ILB's shed their blocks and make plays. Vilma is no ILB, when the 3-4 was more commen in the 70's and 80's ILB's were HUGE, remember the Giants in the 80's?

I'm surprised champ didn't make this post and label Vilma a "bust". Lighten up everyone, people have bad games. Did it occur to anyone that the opposing offenses now gameplan to try and stymie Vilma?

I'm Sorry To Say It Again Vilma is Sub-Par

He missed atleast a half dozen tackles yesterday. Blown covergaes, penalties, etc. etc.

He just to small. He gets carried by RB's like a rag doll.

We have absolutely no Pass Rush.

Teams will game plan for Rhodes now. I'm nervous for the upcoming weak.

You are exactly right, you said it all.
I love Vilma as much as anyone here, but he's is too small to be an ILB in the 3-4. We have to move him outside where his talents can be used.

Donnie Edwards is 6-2 227 for the Chargers
Zach Thomas is 5-11 228 for the Dolphins

I guess the Chargers and Dolphins should get rid of them too.

There's also the Buffalo factor. The Bills are Vilmas cryptonite. Always have been....and we did win and Vilma picked up a fumble to boot, along with making 10 tackles. Everyone has gotta chill...ma, on Vilma.
