Being a backup, he hasn't taken a lot of pounding and wear and tear on his body. His 28 probably won't be like that of a player that's been a starter for his entire career. In addition, he probably would only be a role player with the Jets and would see limited action. Remember that Idzik likes to go bpa in the draft. To do that, he needs to address needs in FA. He also like to increase competitiveness at all positions. Adding Hawkins can upgrade the depth and provide a player who can help on STs and in certain situations AND give Idzik the freedom to go bpa in the draft and not have to find a depth-type WR.
