Thinking about the disappointment of DeWayne Robinson, I also think about Robert Gallery and other recent Top 10/Top 5 OT picks, and Mario Williams this year.

It seems every year there's a big OL or DL player whose 'stock is rising' through the combines, etc. Originally slated for high single-digits or low-double, he is moving up to the Top 10, maybe Top 5. Or if he was already Top 5, he's now thought to be a potential 1st overall or 2nd overall.

Then these guys all struggle their first, second, and sometimes third year.

Anyone else notice this? The days of a Cortez Kennedy or Jonathan Ogden or Anthony Munoz coming in and dominating from year one seem far removed.

Not sure why...maybe alot of misdirection and B.S. coming from all the different media sources today?

it is always good to be wary of workout warriors

the combine definitely has its place, but is only part of the puzzle

Gallery was not a workout warrior.

I think its unfair to lump Gallery in this category because he was a stud at Iowa.

Just a theory on why you have the OL/DL "rising" is in large part due to the fact that they are often unnoticed during the college season. All the highlight shows focus on the skill positions so I think a lot of the linemen are under the radar (at least to the casual fan) at the begining of the draft coverage season.

No, because I think the pre-draft consensus on him was: will be solid, some All-Pro years, some Pro Bowls, but will not dominate like Munoz/Ogden, because he doesn't have their relative size advantage.

I'm thinking of Robertson, Gallery, and a few others. Again....folks who were originally thought to be slotted around "X" and then suddenly 2-3 weeks before the draft are suddenly rising 5 or 10 slots. Or if they are Top 5, are being talked about as legit #1 or #2 overall picks.

Gallery was a "blue chip." can't miss guy. Well he could not protect the quarterback at LT or RT now he's back at LT. So far his career has been a bust but he may still turn it around. As for Dewayne what are you doing drafting at number 4 a DT with next to no knee cartilage???????

ON a positive note D'Brick and Mangold are doing F@#$ awesome for rookies.
