For a decade now I have been hoping the Jets would design a new uniform. I feel this way because sleeves have been mostly eliminated from NFL jerseys. Kickers and quarterbacks are really the only positions where a decent percentage of the players wear actual sleeves. The Jets jersey has shoulder loops or at least used to have them. The loops are now half loops or just quarter loops. The look is somewhat silly. I have been wanting uniform numbers that are slanted, italicized, futuristic-looking. A few years ago, the Missouri Tigers went with the number style that I had in mind.
I believe I actually liked the Seahawks change at first, who knows though, its not that big of a deal. They sure like nice now.
Just horrendous. I like the Seahawks jerseys; these look like the Bucs desparately attempting to imitate that style but with their own colors, rather than doing something that would create their own brand look.
i hated, let me be clear HATED the broncos uniforms when they came out. now they are not so bad. cincy has decent uniforms, if they were a little bit simpler they would be better but you really cant fuck up orange and black. arizona was much like denver when they first came out i didnt like them. they are still too futuristic looking but ehh. seattle has really grown on me. i like them at this point. even with the stupid yellow/green, miami is pretty plain very white and doesnt really stand out as great or terrible. jacksonville, whoever came up with that idea should get punched in the face. they took a great uniform and fucked it in the ass. atlanta is blah, not great not terrible. definitely not as tough looking as the old gray and red and black that nobody ever saw because they were never on tv in the 80s and 90s. now on to these yuccaneers unis. holy crap i hate them. they look terrible, pieced together and ugly. my 7 year old walked by as i was looking at the picture though and he says out of nowhere, wow those look cool. so maybe its just me being/getting old and liking the nostalgic look of uniforms and not accepting the douchery that nike has made of them.
so espn appears to have a uniform specialist, they interviewed him and he said that the numbers are supposed to be reminiscent of sword cuts, but that they are more reminiscent of a 1980s alarm clock.... haha well done sir, you have earned your pay check.
God bless Bill Parcells whose 1st order of business when he came to the Jets was to go back to their original unis while making mention of the history and 'tradition' of the franchise--he got it. In the AFL there were always the three teams whose uniforms were considered classic: the Raiders, the Chargers and the Jets. One feature of the Jets original unis was the black belt with the belt loops much like a lot of the football spikes of that era that would have the white shoe string woven around the top of the shoe. And I agree with the above: the 'winning' whites are the best. No b.s., just a classic football uniform. Trivia: the Jets & Colts are the only 2 NFL teams with only 2 colors (not including the time when the Coslet Jets went 'guido' with those crappy black outlined jerseys). And imho, the green pants suck, esp. with the white jersey. The green pants take it from classic to high school blah:
Notice how much better the uniforms look with the sleeves in the old photos. Those days are not coming back. The Jets could keep the basic look but do something different with the shoulder area.
On second thoughts, I dont think those are bad jerseys at all. Once when we see them in action im sure our eyes will get used to it, it wont hurt either if the Bucs start winning, it would represent a change in culture.
might just be the worst uniforms i've seen. honestly, has any team ever improved their uniforms by going futuristic, or making mass changes at all? i thought the Bucs were one of the few with the change in the 90's, but now are going completely wrong direction. Eagles, Broncos, Cardinals, Seahawks, Jaguars, Dolphins, Bengals all were way better off before change. The Bills and 49ers at least recognized their terrible uniform changes, and went back to a much better retro. As Joe mentioned, i like teams that don't change much throughout the eras, like the Jets, Raiders, Chiefs, Lions, Bears, Packers, etc.. also agree the green pants on the Jets is terrible..
Agreed Cakes, the sleeves do look better in the old photos. As for the shoulders, both the Jets and the Colts had that 'ring' around them (Ole Miss also does). Today the Jets 'ring' has been truncated and replaced by I don't know what. on-topic: those Bucs unis look like Va. Tech taking their crappy 90's orange and purple unis to a cheesier level; pretty uggly.
I wonder if they will go w/ an all green top w/ the white jerseys and an all white top w/ the green jerseys. similar effect but may look better w/ the new sleeveless style jerseys. can someone mock that up for us?
Cleveland Browns are next to be destroyed. I mean everything about that franchise is crap except their classic, beautiful uniforms http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/eye-on...e-unveiling-new-cutting-edge-uniforms-in-2015 fyi the Nike contract expired after 2016, so maybe things can go back to normal then
I think the Browns are a team that could seriously use a uniform makeover, but I could definitely see it being an serious eyesore.
i love this image at the bottom of the page, its so consistent and simple. any kind of major "update" would be retarded for the brownies. i could see what pants with a brown strip from the belt to the crotch in the back.
