*Note* I DON'T think we should trade away Ramsey,as I think we'll need him if *Godforbid* Chad went down with an injury.

But, I had a thought before. Since Chris Simms season is basically over (they said the recovery for the injury he sustained is about 2-3 months), the Bucs probably want a good QB instead of Bruce Gradkowski or Tim Rattay.

Do you think the Bucs and Jets would make a trade sending away Ramsey?

What do you think we'd GET? A 5th rounder? Try to hold them hostage like they tried to do last year and get a 4th?

Is a 4th or a 5th worth leaving us "naked" in case something happens?

Kelly had some rumor they were interested in Ramsey before Simms went down in a thread not to long. So yea I guess it could def happen ,have no idea what id be looking for in return.

Ramsey is a good backup, no need to trade him unless they offer us atleast say a 3rd or 4th rounder.

I don't know much about him, but it would be cool seeing Phil Simms son on the Jets. But that would mean, if we had to throw our rookie into the season, we'd be in rebuilding mode. Right now, we look damn good. As cool as it would be, commonsense-wise, we cannot take the chance. No trade.

We got him for a 6th, and in that meantime, he's done absolutely nothing. We're not netting anything more than a 5th.. Probably not even that.

The Bucs are 0-3 now. They aren't competing any more and they already have a QB for the future. They wouldnt spend a draft pick on a QB

Yeah, but he would certainly be more valuable to them now than he was to us when we got him

IMO, Mangini doesn't care for Ramsey all that much. He was practically neglected all throughout training camp and preseason, and doesn't seem that valuable now that Chad is back in form. So, if the opportunity presented itself, I could see Mangini dealing him.

Besides, if Chad goes down, the season is over for the Jets anyway. Might as well get Clemens some time, than leave Ramsey in there throwing picks and taking sacks.

Not really. Is Ramsey really an upgrade over Rattay or Grawtaswki or however you spell his name?

I definitly would not want a draft pick for Ramsey if a trade went down.

You have to agree that Ramsey>Clemens if Chad were to go down (Godforbid once again).

If Ramsey is gone, that would mean Clemens is backing up Chad, a kid that doesn't have the NFL experience yet. And the fact that we are doing well so far this season doesn't mean I'd like to see Clemens yet this season.

I think if Chad goes down then they give Brad Smith a shot. If we lose Chad, whether it be Ramsey or Smith, then we have a losing team. At least with Smith, we can find out if he's reliable enough at QB to be our third stringer, emergency guy from now on. If he is, then we only need to roll with Chad/Kellen

I thought this exact scenario is why they went out and got Rattay...

Based on what the Titans got for Volek (a 6th) I don't think its worth dealing away insurance like Ramsey for what he'll likely get you in a trade.

Give Smith a shot? The guy we drafted in the 4th to play RB/WR? No, the 2nd rounder we drafted as a QB will get the shot. If Chad ever went down, we should find out if Clemens is the real deal to be #1 instead of worrying about our gimmick QB is good enouhg to be #3.

Clemens will more than likely never touch the field this year. If the Jets season is over then maybe, but I doubt they put him in a position of pressure to keep the season alive. My point is that who needs Ramsey when we have Smith. Even if the Jets do what you say, and play Clemens, thats fine by me... but why keep Ramsey as the three? We have Smith. He can throw, he can run, he can make plays. If we can receive ANY form of compensation from the Bucs, then it's a steal.

The Bucs are clsoe to being finished, at this point it's probably better to let the young kid play. From our end it makes no sense b/c we are in it and Chad does have an injury history so we'd leave ourselves w/a backup who's not ready to play and basically end any hopes we have.

Likewise. As much as I didn't want ramsey am glad we do have him as insurance. I wouldn't want to give that kind of insurance away for a 5th or 6th rounder. Just not worth it. It's still early in the season to start thinking about making trades that will help other teams. Let tampa fans worry about that team.

I get the feeling that Mangini loves Smith and thinks he might be the QB of the future. I was very high on Clemens based on hype and his release but I hate his size particularly in a our division where the philosophy of all 3 of the other teams is big fronts. I would try and trade Clemens for a first or a second and hang on to Ramsey. Ramsey is going to be a realatively inexpensive quality NFL back up for years. Smith may be the Jets QB of the future and with Pennington and Ramsey as solid 1 and 2 for now, Smith is in the perfect place.
