http://www.newyorkjets.com/news/art...ick-Folk/c175fed8-379e-439f-9861-69a3d3cc7fe4 a little more expensive than it should have been, but he'll be back next year...
Good move. No one else on the team was going to be tagged and I don't have confidence Folk can keep his 2013 success to warrant a long term deal.
I guess he wanted at least that for multiple years, so they figured they'd franchise him and see if he can do it a 2nd year before committing long term.
when i heard this move on the radio today on my way home from work, i didnt know what to think of it, but after some time it seems that this was probably a good move. folk might not play as well as he has this season again; so with that in mind it makes sense to tag him and keep him around without having to worry about his big payday. now, i feel for folk here cause he has been a solid jet for a few years now but it is a business and i dont know if folks value will ever be as high as it is right now.
Good move. Folk played great and because he made some key kicks, we ended up with some wins instead of losses. Always got to keep a kicker who is making kicks
Not all that uncommon. The big benefit is he likely plays on a 1 year deal even though he probably deserves more.
Always heard the franchise tag was equal to the avg of the top 5 paid players for that position. But I also heard today with the salary cap going up that the cost of franchise tags will go up too because they're somehow tied to the cap. Anyone know all the rules of how the franchise tags are calculated?
Nick Folk got a multi-year deal. http://www.newyorkjets.com/news/art...ith-Jets/fc6430ea-7c99-4c1a-bf80-3ac8511a5390
Not that we have any cap concerns but it should save close to a million . Kickers should never make 3 mill a year anyway.
