The Jets would be 2-1 while the teams like the Giants, Steelers, Carolina and others would have a worse record? I know it's early in the season and things can change rather quickly with Indy coming in next week followed by a trip to Jacksonville. The Jets concievably can be over .500 heading into the bye week. 5-3 is not too hard to imagine with the schedule ahead. I had my doubts about boy wonder as coach but he's showing that his team is prepared and full of fight. As soon as he can get the talent the playoffs and title contention doesn't seem too far fetched.
I think things are a bit to early to think 5-3 but the way this team is battling it's not inconcievable, the issue I see is the lack of a running game. Barlow is terrible. I see alot of problems with this team that I feel confident will be fixed but for now I'm going to enjoy 2-1 which is always better than Herm's 0-2.
Again, Barlow is not terrible. It's not the rbs it's the oline! When the left side of the line finally started to get a push today, Leon Washington started to run pretty well.
I'm goign to enjoy the two and one....unfortunatley we haven't beaten anyone good. I'd be really great if we could at least run with Indy and Jax and maybe get lucky. You never know what will happen later in the season. With Kendal back, and the rest of the line getting experience, we may be able to build a runni9ng game. With a running game we could be really good.
Two things... a running game and a run defense. Get these two aspects of the Jets in order, then I'll be more optimistic.
I agree Rich, the running game is going to hurt if it doesn't improve. But all I was stating was that's it's not too hard to imagine it happening with the sched. Look at it after, Indy and Jacksonville, the Jets have Miami and Detroit at home and winless, right now, Cleve on the road. The only thing I've been able to certainly see with the Jets is that they aren't playing to lose like a previous unnamed coach. They look like a squad that will win games they 'should'. Buffalo is no slouch of a team. Thye were so close to beating NE and thye pretty much whooped up on Miami and the Jets went in and pretty much handled them in their home stadium. That's pretty good football so far. For the Jets there has been only one half of a game so far where they have looked bad. Otherwise they've done really well for a team who can't run the ball. Look at the offensive production and they should have lost in Buffalo but what mattered was putting points on the board and letting the other team score. That is something they seem to do pretty well. It's not inconcievable that they are 5-3 heading into the bye, that my point.
I know, that's why they probably will get beat by playoff bound teams. Buffalo isn't a bad team, though, so it's not like the Jets only beating patsies.
Well, Buffalo isn't bad, even if they aren't good. They do play solid football and the Jets went in and beat them at home. That's a good effort to say the least. If the Jets can get one of the next two, I'd say they had to have gotten a little lucky at some point.
I have yet to see them play, I only see stats so I can't tell whether it's bad play calling, offensive line issues or poor running backs.
I think it would take a miracle to beat Indy but then again NE D has always caused Peyton to have bad performances but he seems to have slayed that dragon last year. You know I think it's not out of the realm they beat Jax, I think our strengths on offense play to their weaknesses. They don't run the ball very well either so if our DBs can keep Leftwich honest they will have a tough time scoring, we weren't that far away from beating these guys last year with a deer in the headlights Herm and losing 2 QBs in 8 plays.
Where Are The Big Mouth Jills Fans Now ALL WEEK WE HAD TO DEAL WITH BIG MOUTH JILLS FANS RUNNIN THEIR C**K HOLSTERS ABOUT HOW WE WERE GOIN TO GET OUR ASSES HANDED TO US......AMAZINGLY THEY ARE NOWHERE TO BE FOUND TONIGHT................J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS:jets:
If we want to have a chance next week,we better find a way to get CONSTANT pressure on the qb from the line.
The good Bills fans have returned and said congratulations. It's the turds who won't be back until right before the second game.
Absolutely about Jax O, they have been having trouble running but they have one potent recieving core with the guy who I wanted the Jets to draft so badly last season in Matt Jones finally turning into the guy who I knew he would. Their defensive line is beastly though and if the Jets don't have their O-line issues somewhat worked out by then it could get real ugly. I could see a 9-6 game. You're in Vegas....anything over 25 for the over/under could be money in the bank. I'm in Tempe, Az just 6 hours down the road...lol.
