They are a joke but the real joke is their shady owner. His ownership was finalized in Aug 2012. That's 2 football seasons but less than 2 calendar years. They've had 3 different GMs named and 3 Different Head Coaches named in that short time period. That's chaos.

if he manages to not land in jail or bankrupt, the browns have a pretty good future.

things are looking up for the former informan... i mean jets defensive coordinator...

They promoted from within and the owner wants the team to be less of a circus, so it may not be all that hot. If he can do with Cleveland's D what he did in buffalo he will not have too much to worry about. Sure browns fans want to win, but give them at least a solid defense then can hang their hat on in year one and it will go a long way toward creating goodwill toward the coach.

Rumors were the owner was embarrassed with the length of the coaching search. He decided that the men at the top did not have the ability to get along and run the team as a unit so he shit canned them both.

How many crimes must Haslam commit before ESPN fittingly labels Cleveland the joke of the NFL...

I hope their scouting department is in good shape. Firing these guys at this point in the off-season is almost ludicrous. Firing the head coach after one season was ludicrous.

Haslam looks like he's going to give Snyder a run for his money in the worst owner category.

Joe Banner and GM Michael Lombardi were awful. Browns fans are prob happy as can be right now. Heard a lot of good things about Ray Farmer (via NFLN, interwebs). He interviewed for the Dolphins GM last year I believe

As far as I've heard the structure under them is the same, he just cut the head off the snake.

The new Gm is the old assistant GM who is well thought of in the NFL community. The scouting reports and rest of the staff is still present, just under new leadership.

  13. ..But don't ya know? The Jets are the real clowns!

The new GM was the guy repping the browns at the senior bowl. Previous gm wasn't even there. All the scouts are still employed.

Why a Browns fan would renew the season tickets at this point is beyond me. Petine will be out after next season, they are throwing away another season.

IMO its time for the NFL to step in. (They wont though)

I'd feel bad for Pettine if he wasn't such a rat. But when has this ever happened to a coach (his GM being fired) after what, two weeks?

Fitting the GM gets canned after one season when he did it to Chudzinski...talk about what goes around comes around.

Ill be honest, it would not shock me if Petine gets canned right now. Certain GMs have connections with certain head coaches, its possible Ray Farmer is friends with coaches that Lombardi couldnt get in the building. They could wait until next season to find a new head coach but what credible head coach is going to even go there? (maybe Mike Shanahan)

I didnt realize this, but this Ray Farmer guy is a NY Native (White Plains) and was part of the Chiefs between 2006-2012 as the Director of Pro Personal. Overall he was able to bring in a load of talent for the Chiefs so I think he will help the Browns talent wise.

What a screwed up franchise. Whenever things get bad for the Jets we can always look at Cleveland to put things in perspective :)
