Troll. How do you figure that Milliner and Geno are automatically busts? It takes 2 or 3 years to get a realistic sense of how a draft went, because a lot of rookies struggle or don't get much playing time. And in any event- the Jets are a better team than your Bills, so if the Jets are bad you're just insulting your own team even more.
Please tell me you're not an attorney. There's no way, with that logic. I never said, nor even insinuated, that Geno and Milliner are "automatic busts." I personally think Geno is the QB of your future and Milliner will pan out. But multiple posts in this thread stated that this was a "great" draft based on the performance of the aforementioned players this season. My post was stating that a few of those players were "terrible" this year. That does not mean they are busts. That does not mean anything other than they were not good this season. Calling a draft "great" when all but one of your draft picks perform at a low level is asinine. That was the point of my original post.
People consider this draft great, due to the amount of playing time they all received - They grabbed 5 starters which is pretty good. All have upside and showcased it on the field - extremely inconsistent and I think their future performances are TBA. Performance appears to not be a major criteria, but contribution - which is fair because they are after all rookies.
Not only that. http://blogs.palmbeachpost.com/thed...d-less-snaps-in-2013-than-the-miami-dolphins/ The Jets were first in the league in the total number of snaps that their rookies played. Buffalo was 3rd overall (much of that is due to Kiko), New England was 16th and Miami was dead last. 3810 snaps for the Jets compared to 866 for Miami. Obviously this doesn't mean that the Jets rookies necessarily played better than Miami's; it could be that the Jets just had worse talent originally then the Dolphins. That said, the playtime disparity tells you a lot about this rookie class. We'll know more in a few years, but I bet this draft class will be seen as Idzik's first big success, hopefully one of many.
I'm sorry but people need to relax. First the rookies played because the talent was so awful. Not because they beat out anyone good. Second of the big 3 only one has been any good. Dee has been just awful most of the year. People can say what they want but the last few games he was ok. Not great or even very good. And some of the plays he made was from poor QB play. I wouldn't be to Happy at all with a few decent games from a top ten pick. For the life of me I don't understand why anyone would want Geno back. You've seen this movie before. He looked absolutely lost except for a few games. I'm sorry but I see no promises with him. The thought of him playing for my team is scary. In fact both Geno and EJ look like they have a long way to go. Richardson had a great year. He looks like a very good player. I think he'll improve. I'm not sure it will matter much with the jets linebackers and secondary though. Both units are in need of some serious help. Cro is a one trick pony who is a year older and overrated imo. One good year out of many doesn't make a good player. Wilson looked Better but he's limited and who knows if he'll continue to grow. Bottom line is this team is years away from being any good. New England will improve and have money to spend. They won't get hit with tons of key injuries again. Which if you're honest is the only reason the jets hung around in those games. Denver is Denver and will be there again with 10-12 wins. KC and SD are a improving and have solid pieces in places. Cincinnati will be there. Baltimore will make a run. Plus you still have Houston, Indy to deal with. Maybe by 2017?
Damn I didnt realize The Gang Green has been around since the early to mid 90's, because that was the last time anyone could say "Bills over Jets" LOL Sent from my SGH-M919 using Tapatalk
This is a little bit unfair for the rookies. You should expect rookies to make mistakes and learn from them and Geno and Milliner both made many mistakes, but the last month of the season suggests that they've been learning from them. The Jets started them knowing that they would be making these mistakes, but choosing to take their lumps in 2013 in order to get experience for the rookies. Milliner looks like he could be the real deal. A good CB. In the last couple of games he defended top wide receivers and got 10 PDs and 3 interceptions. Those are good numbers for any CB, not just a rookie. Richardson clearly looks like a potential annual pro-bowl/all-pro player. With Geno, its too soon to say. The Jets need to put some talent around him and then see how he performs. Over the last month of the season he played pretty well with the worst receiving core in the NFL. With Winters, it also too soon to say. Had some really terrible plays throughout the year, but seemed to get better as the year progressed. His terrible pass protection (particularly in the month or so after the bye week) badly hindered Geno's development. As to when the Jets will compete - the Jets will have $40 million to spend to fix holes at WRs, TEs, Safety, and OLB and, likely, 12 draft picks, including 2 picks in the 3rd, 4th and 5th rounds and 3 in the 7th round. With those resources, I expect them to be able to easily fill their holes. I fully expect the Jets to make the playoffs in 2014 and once Ryan's in the playoffs his teams tend to overperform.
I'm interested to see what Dee looks like next season with a year's worth of knowledge and experience to build on, plus a full training camp with (hopefully) Ed Reed.
Really bro? Milliner was just okay at the end of the year? Jets fans' expectations of CB play are as high as Mt. Everest. Anyway, if he continues to keep playing like that next year, we're gonna forget about Revis soon.
Your post have me a headache. 2017? Ha. This team is showing every sign towards being a very strong team in the near future. I'm not going to get to heavy into it until after the offseason, but I feel Jets fans have every right to feel good about the near future.
