NFL Network saying Monte Kiffin has a much better chance of being fired than Jason Garrett, that would make like four 8-8 seasons in a row right? Teflon Don Jason Garrett.
The guys defenses haven't been the same since Tampa. Granted they have had some injuries but still... Guy needs to retire.. Cowboys should have have Rob Ryan another chance.
When the owner is the GM it makes it much harder to fire the head coach because GM's only get a couple of... Seriously, Jerry Jones needs to hire a GM at this point. It's embarrassing that the Cowboys have been so mediocre in what has been a thoroughly mediocre division for years now. It's not like the Patriots are sitting there holding the Cowboys down. Jerry Jones is holding the Cowboys down.
Tough to blame Jerry as GM, the talent is most definitely there he's just too attached to his coaching staff. Waited too long to fire Wade and now he's doing the same for Jason Garrett. How do you keep a HC who has talent on the roster all over the place yet never makes the postseason in like 4 seasons.
It's not tough to blame Jerry as GM. He pulls ALL the strings in the Cowboy's organization and they are still playing mediocre in a mediocre division. He keeps coaches around as long as he does because he doesn't want to cede control of the day to day football operations of the team. He let Jimmy Johnson go in the middle of a dynasty because Johnson had more day to day control than he did. He let the next guy go after winning another Super Bowl with Johnson's team because the guy was trying to take control of the day to day operations of the team. Jerry Jones is in the early stages of Al Davis disease. Only he's nowhere near as good as Davis was before the disease set in.
Who do the Skins try and target? Art Briles from Baylor. I think that is going to be a joke... Just because the guy coached RG3 in college and was successful doesn't mean shit.. The NFL is a whole different ball game.
Hire a high profile coach to manage your shambles of a football operation. Force that coach to make a huge trade up that will cripple the football operation if it fails. Fire the coach when the huge trade up fails and cripples the football operations. The Redskins are now 102-136 in the 15 years Snyder has owned the team. They are about to hire their 8th head coach in 15 years. This including the fact that Joe Gibbs managed to stay on the job for 4 years. I'm jealous of the Giants right now. They have had no real long-term competition in the division since Andy Reid jumped the shark along about 2007.
Chris Mortensen @mortreport 1m The payoff on Rob Chudzinski's contract is $10.5 million, per league source
Am I the only one not completely stunned about Chudzinski's firing? People tend to get fired when they lose 7 games in a row to close out a year. You can say winning organizations don't fire their coaches after 1 season, but winning organization's also don't hang onto a guy who is over his head any longer than they have too. And make no mistake - Chudzinski was in over his head. I've never seen a team look so poor coming out of the half, especially since they would play well usually early in games. They would get outcoached every week because opponents would make the adjustments they couldn't make / wouldn't make or had no answer too. You can pile on Cleveland because they are a joke in most cases, but all this was is an organization that realized they made a mistake and got out of it as soon as possible. The real mistake was hiring him in the first place, not the saavy decision to acknowledge the mistake as soon as possible.
I'd take Norv too. He did real good in that offense with no QBs. Only thing is, we'd be changing OCs again. Marty did a decent job, but Norv would be great here.
That team is talented . I don't know who's making draft decisions over there, but that teams got serious talent. All they need is a coach, but that's where Jerry brings all the talent down.
Shanahan is laughing all the way to the bank. His contract was ironclad and now he gets paid $7 million to not coach next season. Smart bastard.
Could be bad news for our 3rd round pick from them. I don't know if any new GM is going to want to sign up for a $16/year CB ... Revis could be on the market.
who fired the defensive coordinator and hired his replacement, who in turn orchestrated the worst defense in the league? it is extremely easy to blame Jerry Jones. they lost 2 games when scoring over 30 points and 1 game scoring 28. you should win those games, or at least 2 of them (we will call the Denver loss a wash); that would be 10-11 wins right there and a division championship with just a competent D. I'm not saying Garret is blameless, but Jerry Jones saddled him with the worst D in the league that cost them 2-3 wins.
Yeah that's not good I agree, that pick is on top of the 3rd round too ... too bad both sides are too stubborn for a reunion ... Josh Freeman got 2 coaches fired in one off-season :rofl2:
