I find the Rex should stay argument a bit perplexing in that he should stay because his guys like to play for him, and he had less talent to work with this year so he exceeded expectations - at least that is what I hear on sports stations here. Is any player on the Jets willing to admit that their own talent level stink and they deserved to be axed? therefore it isn't Rex' or the GM's problem? and what about Rex has nothing to do with bringing these guys in the first place? Many GMs and head coach work together to recruit the guys on the team and I probably imagine Rex has a lot more saying on the recruitment than most coaches throughout the NFL, especially when Tanny was GM. So if Rex help built this team, then it makes no sense to say he did such a wonderful job with a talent-devoid squad. Those are his recruits that he even bragged about a few weeks ago with A+ grade on the draft class? lol.. it makes no sense to give Rex a pass because he is working with a lot of holes on the offense, when that is partly is own pickings.

It's pretty obvious they weren't trying to contend this year by their cutting several veterans and signing nobody major in FA. So did people expect to contend this yr or something? We're clearly flipping over the roster.

So whats the answer then?I read somewhere that Idzik is a fan of Ken Wisenhunt,For arguments sake if he got hired as head coach you would think thats a good move over Rex? Who would you want the next coach to be?

Last thing I heard yesterday was that Wisenhunt was friends with somebody else in Seattle, not Idzik, when both were in AZ and that they weren't all that friendly at all at the end of their time together.

If the Jets were to hire him him there would be outright mutiny.

As Cimini wrote (he got it right for once) There are no qualified candidates better than Ryan out there. If they dump him for the sake of dumping him he will probably land somewhere else faster than his brother did when Dallas fired him.

Rex Won't Be On the Street Long

The Raiders will probably be his first interview. I expect Tampa Bay to come calling along with maybe Detroit because Schwartz hasn't been able to get them over the hump. Dallas will also be one of the first callers because Garrett deserves to lose his job after that Green Bay game and Rex is just the type of personality that Jerry Jones loves. I will be sad if Rex leaves he loves being coach of the Jets which Parcells, Bellichek, Edwards and Groh didn't because they left. Plus he is the only one in the organization that has a direct link to our only Super Bowl.

No, I'm not that big a fan of Whisenhunt. I think he's just ok.

Well I wanted Arians last year but noone was listening. I want one of the hot names out there. Someone whose teams show balance on both sides of the ball. Not some guy that people have mixed reviews on. I want a Harbaugh, Carroll, Tomlin type dynamic leader who know all three phases of their teams so well.

I really want David Shaw. Let him build this team in his mold. Dynamic offense and one of the top defenses in the country. But you'd need Woody Johnson and Idzik to get on a plane and fly out to Stanford and really woo him to get him to leave The Farm.

There's a few other college coaches i really like. If I took the time to look through the ass't coaches on all 32 NFL teams I'm sure there's a few names that would really stick out as potential HC's.

What do you guys think of Hue Jackson?

48 years old and has been coaching in the NFL ranks for 14 years after starting out coaching in colleges.

He has an offensive coaching background although he recently coached the Bengal's secondary (last year).

He did a good job as the head coach of the Raiders (two years ago) before their new GM decided to clean house.

He is currently an assistant with the Bengals coaching their running backs who are doing very well right now.

He also has adamantium claws and those just have to come in handy.

If we could bring him and Dick Zimmer in as a package deal I would be happy with that.

If we stole both guys Zimmer would be head coach and Jackson would be OC.

100% right on the money. There is not one coach that could have done better with the team he was handed. Top this with some of the HC names that have been batten about and you just want to puke. It's not an offensive minded coach that we need for Pete's sake it's a superior QB....without it you don't win shit.

No freaking way in hell should anyone want Whisenhunt. Talk about loosing control of your lockeroom. In no way, shape or form he is better than Rex.

I sincerely hope we drop the lunacy of looking for a new coach really soon and focus on a solid draft and a few key acquisitions, ridding ourselves of the last few garbage contracts that held us hostage from our previous management.
You want an offensive mind, we have MM, what we need is a top notch QB that can read defenses in a few seconds and make timely decisions

Doubt he leaves Stanford any time soon. If he wanted to he could have probably taken the USC job, but didn't happen.

I doubt it too. If he did leave, it definitely wouldn't be for USC and most likely for an NFL job only. The cache of the USC job and program has gone way down since Kiffin took over. That would be no more than a lateral move for Shaw at this point.

Rex is the only thing that is keeping this organization relevant. If Woody/Idzik were to fire him, then the Jets organization will slip back into a pit of anonymity with the likes of the Bills.

    I agree, keep rex.
I feel it doesn't make all that much sense to fire him and then hire a offensive head coach to rebuild the offense when marty is capable of doing it while rex is still head coach.

Does that mean all the hard knocks fake fans will go away?

What a stupid thing to say. As if no one knew who the jets were before rex arrived.
