Forward Lateral - great name, great play. Or horrible play, if you're you. Not sure why you got bashed, seemed a legit post to me. I think the Bills have yet to be exposed for being one-dimensional on offense and I think the Jets will expose that. Of course, the Bills will probably do the same. But Simpson and Whitner will, at some point, be exposed for being rooks, and I think we'll be able to do that. Buffalo has always been tough for us, but I have faith. As long as we don't spot yuou 24 points we can win. Jets 20 Bills 17
If Losman has played near perfect than what does that make Chad Pennington? God? I think it's time to come back to Earth and say Losman has played average to below average.
Both teams will meet on Sunday at 1pm. If the Bills play well and we don't the Bills will win. If we play well and the Bills don't then we will win. Should be a close game, but we have more break out potential than you.
Losman has played near perfect? I swear, this could only come from a Bills fan. That fan base is world famous for overestimating their team, and smelling roses in the outhouse. I know, I live in Western NY. Now for the truth of the matter. The Bills go as McGahee goes. They will work hard at keeping Chad and the rest of the O off the field playing ball control offense. If Losman throws more then 20 times, the Jets will win the game. If the Jills can successfully run the ball on our D (which is a real possibility, considering the state of the Jets run D), then the Jets are screwed.
Listen, Losman has played near-perfect in the sense that he's done everything the coaches want him to do, and everything they'll let him. He hasn't had a turnover, and hasn't made many dumb-decisions. I'm not saying he's the next Jim Kelly, I'm merely pointing out the fact that he's doing his job. Can he win a game on his own? Who knows, we will only know that when the time comes for him to step up.
The coaches wanted him to get sacked in teh end zone? He cost the Bills that game. Then next week he threw for 80 yards. You can spin it however you want, but the fact remains. If yuou have to limit your QB to 12-15 passes a game because you cannot trust him to do more then that to even have a shot at winning, then you aren't going very far.
First, the sack in the endzone was his fault, yes, but if he throws it away, intentional grounding is still a safety. Second, yes, he threw for a mere 80 yards. Add the 50 yard PI that would've been completed for a TD had Allen not tackled Evans, and he's got 130 yards, and 2 TDs. Third, if a team is ahead, an entire game, why would they pass the ball more than 15 times? The Bills were dominating the clock, and the Fins, why on earth would they WANT to pass the ball more than that? The logic that he only threw the ball 15 times for 80 yards is confusing to me.
I think EMs gameplan will revolve around trying to make Lossman throw the ball as many times as possible. Two players have aglint in their eye on our D. Vilma and Rhodes. Earlier this week JV was quoted as saying how the D was still uncomfortable with the 3-4. I can't for a moment think that EM would have let him say that to press if they can't even mention injuries. Rhodes is VERY aware that the Bills havn't turned the ball over too often by way of Ints and I think that EM will let him rome to go ball hawking. I have a feeling that McGahee will tire going into the half and the second half will be ours , but to win this game we will need to be at least within a score to have a chance. Jets 27~Bills 24
The Bills D is something to take notice of - managing 10 sacks and numerous pressures in 2 games, especially given that 1 of the teams was NE. If Chad is protected, this to me is the most significant in giving he Jets a chance to win. But if the Bills D is constatntly in the Jets backfield, going to be a long day. Based on what I saw in the 2nd half of the NE game, A. Jones may get more playing time. This will help, but will it be enough? A fear for Chads health....
Sounds like the Jets of last year. We had no choice but to limit our QB's because of injuries, and look where we finished. Although our QB position this year is solid with Chad, we have serious issues with our run game. If Buffalo stops Chad and the passing attack, we are screwed... Not to mention Coles might not play this game, or be healthy enough to make a solid impact. As Willis goes so does Buffalo, as Chad goes so does the Jets. Lets face it, both teams are one dimensional at this point. We both have problems...
Willis ran the ball 25 times for 90+ in the heat and humidity of Miami so he's not likely to tire out running the ball 25-30 times with the temps in the 60s. One big factor that may affect the games is that at least one forecast I heard called for winds averaging 20+ mph on Sunday. Windy Sundays at the Ralph are so much fun!!! Bills by a TD or better.
I think your analysis of the Jets is way off, however, I am not all that confident that we will win on Sunday because we don't usually beat you guys in Buffalo. We are definitely a better team than you are giving us credit for though. We DOMINATED Tennessee in week 1, and if not for Nugent missing kicks, they probably never would have gained the momentum and it would have been a blowout, like it began. Against NE we came out flat but it was pure guts and great coaching that brought us back. Chad is back to being a quality QB and if Coles plays y'all are in for a nailbiter. That beign said, good luck... My prediction? 17-14 Jets
I don't doubt Mcgahee's ability or toughness , but I think that IF they have to run the ball for the most part this might happen , we'll see. he may be hung over from last week(hopes). I'm sure Nooge will relish kicking in Ralph:wink:
I think the absense of Pete Kendall on our O-line is huge. And on defense, I was disgusted in the way we let Maroney run at will, especially when it counted. So these are two tremendous deficiencies. But Losman isn't Tom Brady and I don't think McGahee is as elusive a runner as Maroney showcased. And if nothing else good came of last week's loss, it does look like Chad Pennington has found a rythm (even without Kendall) and a mutual confidence with his receivers. The fact that it looks like Barlow will again will be running the ball (instead of inserting Houston) tells me Mangini has something up his sleeve and may have figured out a way to improve the run this week without Kendall. Barlow practiced with the first team yesterday with many touches, so this is something the Jets have definitely worked on all week. I'm still predicting Jets 20 - Bills 17, albeit with fingers crossed.
First off, I havent seen to many threads "over looking" the Bill D. We all know it is a good D which seems to be working very well. That said, do I believe the Jets will win regardless of the Bills D? YES. I am "confident" that the Jets D will get it right on Sunday and play better than the last two games at the very least. That means slowing down your best offensive weapon Willis McGahee and making Losman beat us in the air. Now the question is this, are YOU confident that Losman can beat us in the air? Because I am confident that Chad can beat the bills in the air, and if our running game gets a bit better (no where to go but up lol) then it will be a a very interesting game. That is if we win the turnover game. Which brings me to my next reason why the Jets will take this one. Losman is a turnover waiting to happen. Is he going to have 0 turnovers this season? I think not. Chances are that his clean record will be damaged on Sunday. Our CBs have had a good season picking passses thus far. If McGahee is kept in check, we win. Take it to the bank son.
The Jets really need to get their running game rolling. Without our running attack were in trouble against Buffalo or anyother team for that matter.
I agree. It defies logic as to why Mangini had Houston working with the 2nd team and Barlow with the 1st team this week, as reported in this morning's Star Ledger. It looks like, for some reason (and also speculated by the Ledger), that Mangini's willing to give Barlow the nod as the starter over Houston on Sunday. There has to be something Mangini sees in Barlow that will get him more yards given a different setup or a change in blocking assignments. This is only supposition on my part, but what else would explain doing this over merely inserting another back? It's got to be a difference in Barlow's style over Houston and perhaps something Mangini has game-planned or sees against the Bills for this particular game. Again, only guessing. It'll be interesting to see how Barlow does in the 1st quarter. Maybe we get to see Houston later on to spell him. It appears the Jets will be using Blaylock for 3rd-down situations (or so speculates the Star Ledger).
