    Can't go wrong with the T3i. Great entry level DSLR.

    He is right. The Nikon equivalent is the d3100 (3300 was released but for quick snaps 3100 works just fine). For the amount you spend on a point and shoot, get a low end dsl. There is a ton more controls and your pictures in general will be better. DSLRs have an "auto" mode for your kids, and the other modes will be fun for you and your wife to learn and experiment with.

    I just got the T3i. I got a really good deal. A zoom lens, printer, memory card, bag, paper all for 450.00 after a 400 dollar rebate.
