Because he has one fumble? On a play where the ball literally got kicked out of his arm as he went to the ground? Are you kidding me? The kick return idea is also interesting to me. He did return a little in college. They should maybe try it and see how well he does, especially with Cribbs out. If he starts making plays there, maybe it will get the ball in his hands more on offense.
The problem with Hill is locating the ball. He often never looks for the ball or has problems picking up. After Hill caused the INT against Tenn because he never picked up the ball and ran 5 yards past it the Jets seemed to lose confidence in him. He also may have caused the last INT against NE. Either he went the wrong way or Geno thought wrong. He has had a number of other balls this year where he has not turned around when the ball was thrown at him. While he has been hurt and banged up almost all year I think he has lost the trust of the CS and the QB. A bigger long term issue to me is how he attacks the ball when it is in the air. He never seems to elevate to the ball or get his body in a proper box out position. Great receivers have that ability to position their bodies to box out defenders while Hill always seems out of position. Instinctively he looks lost to me. A great physical build but not a natrual football player. They say the third year is the breakout year for WR's. Maybe with all his injuries he might need a 4th year. I would love to see him become a a reliable and serviceable 2nd receiver. With his physical tools if the light ever goes on he could be very productive for us especially if we had a legit number one across from him. But I think we are likely to always be disappointed by Hill. My bet is when his contract runs out he will be gone.
He is second in the NFL in sacks allowed for guards and he has played 2 less games then most of the others. I hope this potential comes out soon because it sure hasn't come out yet for the #9 pick...
Do you really think the Jets are going to have a spot for Hill on the 53 man roster next year? He doesn't play special teams. He's not going to hold down a 4th or 5th WR slot without doing that. I think unless they see major improvement from him in the off-season that he is toast.
Oh please Geno throws a seriously accurate deep ball its his best quality .Hills a scrub who got demoted from the starting line up.You know its bad when you get demoted in the NFL.Hill will be wearing a diffrent colored jersey next season Idzik doesnt have time to waste on Stephen Hill he will be replaced or end up 6th on depth chart
I would expect he will be here next year and likely be our number 2 WR and our only deep threat. My guess is we will sign a veteran WR to be our number one or sign Holmes fairly cheap but the way Holmes has played this year that does not look to likely especially of Rex goes. We likely will draft one WR in rounds 1-3 but the odds of a rookie making a big contribution in his 1st year is not great. In my estimation next year we will have a FA WR as our number one, Hill as our deep threat and number 2, Kerley in the slot, a rookie as the 4 and Gates and Salas competing for the 5th spot. Although if we sign a competent WR to be our number one and then get lucky and draft a guy like Evans then yes you could be right and Hill could drop right down the depth chart.
Just woken up, not sure what Miliner has to do with this ??? Winters has come into a shit storm on the O line and to be fair, as a unit the entire O line has been pathetic, but I still stand by what I said Winters has shown potential, way more than Hill has
We owe him less then the vet minimum next season, Why on earth would we not let him at least play out his contract? Some of you guys makes no sense. It's like you'd rather have your emotions placated by cutting a guy you don't think is performing then to actually make rational decisions based on skill potential and monetary value.
Its a game of %s. If we carry 5 WRs next year and Hill is one of them because we can't get anyone else in either FA or draft, then of course I would be happy to see him in '14. But chances are we will . I am no different to anyone else, I want the best players on our team whoever they may be
I would agree, but I'd like to see the Jets actually draft some offense before really feeling strongly about that. Somehow the Jets manage to go through the offseason year in and year out and let us down offensively. The Jets haven't made good offensive moves since Faneca and LT.
Stephen Hill ---- 2012 draft pick #43 ---- 24 receptions - 342 yrds Alshon Jeffrey ---- 2012 draft pick #45 ---- 70 receptions - 1,109 yrds
One of his best games of the year. That may be going to far. But we did not miss him today. But then again it was the Raiders.
