Here's a list of WR free agents this offseason: http://www.spotrac.com/free-agents/nfl/wide-receiver/ Notable WRs include: Anquan Boldin Eric Decker James Jones Brandon LaFell (Restricted FA) Jeremy Maclin Hakeem Nicks Golden Tate Kenny Britt Jerricho Cotchery Darrius Heyward-Bey Robert Meachem Even if we draft 2 wide receivers in the draft we will need some experienced playmakers. Who should we pick up?
Golden Tate and Jeremy Maclin would be my first two choices, although Maclin has a problem staying healthy. Eric Decker has, or at least had, questionable hands, but he's looking a lot better these days. He'd be my 3rd choice. Hakeem Nicks seems to consistently put up 1,000 yard seasons, but he's a problem in the lockerroom. Boldin and Cotch are too old. I loved Cotch, but unless he's just a stopgap for a year or two, I'd pass. Besides, I doubt he'd come back to the Jets unless Rex is gone and he'd be the #2 WR. Jones is ok, but Rodgers made him look better than he is. I seriously doubt the Panthers would trade LaFell. Meachem is only any good with the Saints, and Heyward-Bey is meh. I wouldn't touch Kenny Britt with a 10-foot pole. No thanks. The young team doesn't need any head cases or cancers in the lockerroom.
Hakeem Nicks/Maclin and Cotchery. I miss J-Co. To be honest though, if we were to draft Watkins or Evans (assuming he declares), and land one of Maclin or Nicks then we would be in pretty good shape. Watkins/Evans, Maclin/Nicks, Kerley, and Hill. You don't even need to sign 2 depending on the draft.
Maclin and Boldin would be my preferences. We need two WRs to replace Tone and move Hill down the depth chart. Kerley is a good #3. To land one of Maclin, Boldin, or James Jones would be great and then add one in the draft.
Idk what everyones obsession with Maclin is, i loved him coming out of Mizzou but he's always hurt, i wouldn't mind him but i would rather draft some talent here for once.
I wouldn't mind Maclin at all ESPECIALLY while bringing in a rookie. he knows exactly what its like to be brought onto a team run by MM, thats a kind of presence you want with a rookie and why a veteran is need in addition to one.
i'll co sign this. tate is a playmaker and maclin knows m.m.'s system. i don't think you can go wrong with either one or maybe both if maclin comes on a "prove your healthy" deal
Why not? They just signed Percy Harvin to a huge deal, and would still have Sidney Rice, Doug Baldwin, and Jermaine Kearse. If he's seeking a huge payday I could see him walking easily. Tate and Decker for me off this list.
