And on offense, fluctuate between throwing deep and running the ball.

How does Rex come with a counter strategy for this? It seems the NFL figured out an easy way to paralyze the Jets. Frankly, I'm surprised it took this long.

The classic way to deal with the stack the box issue is to run effective play action and throw quick passes that put the ball behind most of the defenders and put pressure on the defense in the process.

The defensive problem is a different kettle of fish because Rex really likes his man coverage with jams at the line of scrimmage. This year the Jets don't have the personnel to do that and should really be running a Cover 2 instead.

When offense can't score and is unable to throw a pass it not only makes life easy for a defense it makes life easy for an opposing offense. You can take chances, toss the ball deep, go for it on 4th down...who fears Geno Smith in the NFL? Name one NFL franchise that would trade a water boy for him.

Geno is probably the worst QB in the last 5 years in the entire NFL as far as starters go atleast. And yes he is worse then Sanchez

    Unfair.

    Geno is a ROOKIE.

Geno inherited the worst skill position players on any roster in this league.

Geno would have a lot to deal with as a rookie with a consistently healthy roster, not only does he have your typical rookie learning curve but he is doing it without any consistency from the WR position.

There are a ton of factors at play and trying to label the kid as the worst QB in the league I'm that last 5 years is a huge stretch. You can't make a statement like that considering everything that is wrong in this offense and he has only played 12 games thus far. That's not a lot of time to evaluate someone.

Look's like I'll have to go shopping this Sunday.
Even the wife doesn't want to watch this team anymore.
So sad, she used to make food for the games.
    She actually was laughing Sunday.
I just like the Jet's are totally screwed.

Dude the guy misses wide open recivers all the time stop blaming the WRs .Ive watched this kid constantly stare down recivers only to not see a wide open guy down the field. We used this same excuse with Sanchez.Theres a reason Geno fell out of the first round and passed on by Teams Desperate for a QB.Hes not the guy .He obviously cant overcome adversity either could Sanchez they look almost identical at times. He looks overwelmed out there and he shouldnt be rookie or not.The WRs are part of the problem but there not the only one.Its not like we are two WRs away from a lombardi trophy.Geno just doesnt look ready to be a leader and thats on him not the WRs

I just love how you so called Jet fans turn on Geno so fast. The guy has nothing to work with and you all expect him to be great. Did anybody see the game sunday? The sorry ass wideouts couldn't even get open.

How to Destroy a Young Quarterback

There was a stretch before the Chargers finally found Rivers when the team was desperately searching for a franchise quarterback. They spent early draft picks quite often trying to find them. Without a surrounding cast, the Chargers seemed to be ruining quite decent college quarterbacks, putting them in can't win situations, destroying confidence, teaching bad habits, and getting them flushed out of the NFL after a few bad years. I used to feel sorry for any QB selected by the Chargers.

The Jets are starting to remind me of the old Chargers. It is easy to scorn a Sanchez or a Smith, but I wonder if they are being put in a doomed to fail situation?

    Yes.

How does that make your argument stronger though?

Sanchez and Geno both have shown that they can be NFL caliber QBs in this league. The problem is that this offense has been shit for awhile now. The talent is not there and when it was there we went to two straight AFC title games.

The problem isn't always as simple as pointing the finger at one person, primarily being the QB.

There is A LOT wrong with the offense and the talent is terrible on that side of the ball at the skill positions.

They are getting more out of this offense then I ever would have imagined earlier in the season, now that the injury bug has consistently hit this team our true talent level is showing.

If Idzik bolsters the skill positions, we have a real chance to be something special with a Rex Ryan defense.

You ever think they look similar because they've both been dealt some really shitty cards?

If you want to look at a QB that was a true failure, you would talk about someone like Josh Freeman.

If either Geno or Sanchez had the talent around them like Freeman had and still failed, then I could understand your argument.

Fact is, Geno is a rookie QB with nothing but shit around him. It's unfair. IMO.

Round and round it goes the same old argument. QB or receiver, which is at fault.

Good QBs make average receivers look good. Good receviers make average QBs look good. We've got below average receivers being thrown to by a rookie QB who looks likely, at best, to be able to develop into something pretty damn average. Hence we look... I'll let you fill in the blanks.

Jets can't win man to man with their receivers. Teams are stacking the box. Very difficult situation for the Jets. Very difficult to run against an 8 man front and receivers can't beat mam to man coverage. Any decent defense will shut them down. For the Jets to win any more games they need some help from special teams or a defensive touchdown.

That's why the 2014 Draft should focus on drafting WR/TE and OL. Offense needs help BADLY. Unless the Jets have Manning or Brady back there, no one would do anything with this offense. The Defense' even looks worse than it actually is since it's on the field all game.

Geno is the worst rookie QB in the history of the NFL. He is putting up epically bad numbers for the QB position. He isn't just having a tough time hitting receivers he is missing open receivers now by 15 yards. He is lost -- beyond lost. He is a second round reach that in no way shape or form will even be the franchise QB of the Jets. he might not even be capable of being a backup in this league.

My original thoughts for him being a career journeyman back, I don't even see that now, nor is he Quincy Carter 2.0, he is far worse, but keep making excuses for him, if that's what makes you feel better.
