Great thread, OP. Pretty much agree with everything. I think Idzik has done well thus far. Yes, this season has been frustrating, but only because we've overachieved. Had we played early on as we were expected to, we wouldn't have had any great expectations. Only because of an unexpected good start did we have hopes of a playoff appearance.

It's important to remember the situation he came into. He's addressing our cap nightmare, and we'll be able to supplement our draft with a couple of free agents. I'm still optimistic for the future of this franchise.

I didnt say Kelly wants to shop him. Go back and find where I said that.

I doubt he does. But one can hope. It was just something one of my buddies was talking about the other day, he's a huge Eagles fan. Figured i'd just throw it out there.

I think we are going QB again in the draft most likely.

No way Foles becomes available, just can't see it.
I wanted us to trade for him in the offseason and like another poster said, that window is likely closed.

    TE is a desperate need.
I have to say i'm very disappointed in Cumberland, I really expected him to be much better then he's shown. He's a good 2nd TE but a big play TE is just as big a need as a #1 WR.
I wouldn't be upset with taking one with our 1st pick, or even making it our big splash FA signing.

O-Line is a major disappointment that I really think hasn't had enough of a light cast on it.
Colon hasn't done a good job at all in my opinion. I've seen him beat way too many times.
    He's a backup, that's it.
I understand we've drafted a few recently but we need another stud and can't afford to wait & see how the young guns work out.
Not sure where we find one but it needs to be priority 1A.

Obviously WR is the need that seems to be the most glaring. We need a deep threat real bad but we also need the time to throw to him and a QB to do the throwing.

I'd like to see Nelson resigned. I think the kid's got Miles Austin like potential without the chronic injuries.
If we draft a WR he'd better be a BIG target. I'm sick of these little guys who "play bigger" then they actually are.
I'm not a fan of drafting WR's with the #1 pick but we obviously need a game changer on offense, I'd just prefer he be a TE.

I like Geno and feel he's still in the mix but he's lost his confidence for some reason and now that sends up a red flag that we need to get ourselves some serious insurance in case he doesn't work out.

I'm tired of these old men who haven't throw a pass for 2 years taking up roster spots on this team.
If they want a veteran presence to calm a young QB let him be a coach and not take a spot from someone who can actually contribute.
With the defense this team has I think signing a real solid 2nd tier QB would be worth while.
I'm not saying don't draft another QB but I don't want another rookie QB leading this team next season, I don't care what his name is.

Go hard after Cutler and add a few pieces around him and I think this team goes on the take the AFCE title and we're back in the Championship game.

Cousins is another guy that peaks my interest but only if we can get him for a decent pick and still add a solid vet.

My .02 for whatever its worth.

Anyone that watches the Jet Post game show will know what Im talking about.

Westhoff is on some times and everytime he is on, they grade the offense/defense/special teams/coaches.

And although he is brutally honest...he is pretty careful with the coaches etc. Cant blame him.

The reason I bring this up is that even though he is very careful, he has slipped at least 3 times..you see him trying to catch himself..stating how brutal the special teams are. Why is that important? Besides the obvious Im not really sure but I guess it goes to the point of depth and the secondary etc.

He will say things like "they know they have real problems with that group...its a terrible group...THEY know its a problem"

I guess my point with this is that the holes on this team are huge. The foundation...some defensive linemen and some linebackers are very very good. But this team has some major holes perhaps as many as 10 starters counting the secondary...receivers...offensive linemen. The depth in the secondary is horrible because they cant even sit anyone except Milliner...and nothing great comes of that.

Its a very very flawed team..but is so strong in certain areas of the defense that just a secondary makeover...perhaps more like a liposuction..and some real receivers leads to on major question.

Who is the qb of this team next year....the million dollar question.

So many top tier teams has that guy out of the backfield that can catch a dump pass and go 20 yards. When Sanchez had LT and Leon in the backfield he was solid.

Brees with Sproles, Rivers with Woodhead, Brady has always had that backfield guy, you see so many teams that have that guy you can't really plan for. They need that guy back.

Now you didn't say he wants to shop him in those exact words, but certainly alluded to it, do you own these comments? If so why take issue with what I wrote? Anyway there is no chance Foles is shopped the guy is lighting the league up 128 rating 19 td's and 0 ints, are you kidding me?

"It would be crazy but Chip Kelly is a cocky guy, he wants someone that fits that system. "

"It really all depends on what Kelly thinks of Foles. Is he the product of a really good stretch of game? idk. Some coaches like trading high on players and getting max value for them. It depends on what he thinks about the guy long term. I wouldnt trade him at all. But it's just something I heard talked about so figured i'd throw it in my post."

Idzik spent a high pick on Geno. He's not giving up on him after one year. Just like Tanny he's going to avoid giving him any real competition and we'll go into next year with him as the starter.

It's going to take a while for this to play out, fellas. Maybe not four years but at least a few years.

Good grief, here are a few 2nd rounders no one gives a crap about:

    Kellen Clemens
    Vlad Ducasse
    Kyle Wilson
    Stephen Hill

And you think Geno because he was picked in the 2nd round (our third overall pick) he gets the keys to the kingdom next year after this abortion of a season from him? Get real, no way Geno is handed the starting role next year, he'll be a backup at best, probably 3rd string.

    Yea

And none of those comments mean "Chip Kelly wants to shop him" or "Chip Kelly is looking to trade him". It's more wishful thinking and speculation more so then anything.

If you say so, but your comments seem to state otherwise.

To say "Just like Tanny" he will do this or that isn't really fair. We don't know what Idzik will do.

Mr. T was in a much different situation, he traded up to get Sanchez 5th overall and had to give him a lot of money because of past CBA rules. He was all in with Sanchez.

Geno is a second round pick not making all that much. Idzik passed on him not once but twice, he saw great value and took a shot. He's easily replaceable.

I'm not even saying give up on him totally. But making an attempt to go after a proven QB or even drafting one would be in this teams best interest obviously.

My comments state what they state. I never said he was looking to trade him.

I said it's a situation that should be watched. What do I know about what Chip Kelly is thinking at the end of the day?

And like I said I think Kelly would be crazy to do it and certainly am not expecting it to happen. We have a more realistic chance at having a shot to sign Cutler then we do trading for Foles.

None of them were picked by Idzik. GMs like their guys, they coddle them and want them to succeed. If someone is brought in it will be a mid-round draft pick type or a mid to low level FA QB. Somebody like Matt Moore or Jason Campbell.

We don't. But it stands to reason he'll act like a GM and this is what GMs do... they try to improve the offensive line and skill position players to see what their QB can do under "fairer" conditions.

I'm assuming that guy was supposed to be Goodson. While I agree with what you say, I'd extend it. we need two skill players, at least, that the opposing DC is worried about. Then everyone looks better. We just don't offer any sort of threat to worry even a mediocre D.

I think your right, Kelly would probably trade foles...for a couple first round picks  And that may not be enough.

Are there any standout wideouts in this draft class? I mean yes we have 12 picks but keep in mind we need to hit on at least half of them to be immediate contributors especially on offense....geno is turning into a bust (I'm just glad we didn't give up anything for him) and dee milliner is a bust for sure! He is 5th round talent at best, not worthy of being taken #8 overall....idzik hit on Sheldon Richardson but that's about it! Wide receivers can be found in the 3rd and 4th rounds, unless there is a megatron standout that could be taken in the first round I think we need to solidify the o line or call me crazy but draft a safety who can at least help the secondary out!

Foles is not going anywhere. He's been the Eagles leading passer in 6 games this year. They're 6-0 in those games. They're 1-5 in all other games and 0-5 since the opener.

Foles could be a dancing pink chihuahua and Chip Kelly would be hugging him like he was Johnny Unitas incarnate.
