Of course Tomlin's move was intentional beyond a reasonable doubt. He sticks his foot out at exactly the right moment to impede Jones. If he was watching the JumboTron (like he says), it came as a SURPRISE to him that Jones would be where he was? He was watching the play, right? No, Tomlin knew what he was doing. Look at how he sticks his foot out there at exactly the right time. Is it a natural move to step in the opposite direction first when you're trying to get out of somebody's way? The picture speaks for itself. Here's another angle: Personally, I think he should be suspended for a game for doing that.
"Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin should have been penalized for stepping on the field Thursday night and the play will be reviewed for discipline over the next week, an NFL official confirmed to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. In addition, the official running along with the play -- who allowed Tomlin to come between him and the Baltimore Ravens' Jacoby Jones -- could be downgraded, according to the source."
i dont ever get embarrassed about what other teams guys do. i only get embarrassed when guys on the jets do it because i root for them. and junc said that people need to stop fooling themselves that alosi didnt stick his knee out. the fact that alosi stuck his knee out and went knee to knee with a guy is much much different than a guy walking along the sideline and jumping out of the way at the last moment. is it cool in my book, no and i look at tomlin a little differently today because of it. and junc i believe did say that it was more like the call that went against the jets, i guess the difference is that the ref didnt run into tomlin, which is bs BUT it doesnt fucking matter either way, think of what a douche people sound like with the oh man he got away with it and i got in trouble line, wah wah wah we got killed for this and they wont even be made fun of for it. the jets werent even playing in the game, the teams that were facing eachother both had the same record as the jets and we lost to both of them. it really didnt affect the jets season in any way shape or form. but yet we whine. oh pittsburgh gets away with everything and sal alosi get fired, guys get duis and people kill the jets. stop being such fucking victims. come on man up a little bit
and yes he should be fined, probably suspended. but i am not going to come on here and turn it into a jets story if he doesnt.
I realize you are rightfully defending what I wrote but I take offense to being called a homer. I am realist, I don't give up like most fans but that doesn't make me a homer. I bash when they deserve it and I praise when they deserve it. Always have, always will I just don't jump ship at the first sign of trouble and I don't want a new QB & HC every year. That is very different from being a homer, a homer is saying we are making the playoffs this year and that there's nothing to worry about- that's not me(though I haven't given up on the playoffs).
Both were wrong so that shouldn't even be the issue. The thing that makes Tomlin more appalling is that as HC he is supposed to set an example for the players and be the lead representative for the entire organization.
Obviously, it's not just the media. It's also the league, the refs who work for the league having a double standard. I have seen enough where I think that the game is somewhat fixed.
Both Alosi and Tomlin intentionally tried to obstruct the play, no doubt. To the OP's point, it was somehow way more scandalous when it was the Jets. I believe Rex took more heat for a strength coaches obstruction, than Tomlin did for his own obstruction. More of a double standard from the media than the refs...and an indictment of the attacking nature of the media 'coverage' of the Jets.
In Pittsburgh the media is the steelers best friend. In New York the media is the Jets biggest critic. National media has decided to follow in both regards. Maybe, bc the steelers have won championships but this "incident" is clear example that the coverage and criticisms are not unbiased
When I watched it live, it did not look like he caused much of an interference, but holy hell. He completely altered Jones' path. It's an absolute joke and the NFL should be ashamed that there has not been a sanction on Tomlin yet. :steelers:
The Rooneys are NFL darlings like the Krafts, not whipping boys like the Jets franchise. Tomlin could've tackled him himself and the league would smile. Heck the refs won a super bowl for the steelers
Bingo, the fact the media basically put Alosi's mug shot out there and treated him and Rex like criminals while more or less laughing at Tomlin shows you all you need to know about how they treat the Jets. Although that ref who somehow didn't see Tomlin while running past him on the sideline, that's a disgrace too.
