Is it me or in the off-season wasn't Volek highly sought after by a Few teams in the NFL? He is the #3 QB for todays game and his status w/ the team is "Day to Day". They had a chance to get a Really good pick for him , including from us but said he was worth more than some of the picks and/or he was in their plans. No way they get the value they could have gotten for him.
I agree 100%, that was a huge mistake, especially after they drafted Young. A guy like Collins was out there the entire time, and there was even better guys that could have gotten for a 2 year fix (Kitna, McCown, MCNAIR, etc.) until Young was ready. But hindsight is 20-20, they obviously thought Volek was the answer and then he showed up to camp this year and showed that he isn't.
the TV guys were saying , he came into camp knowing he was the guy and took things for granted. He did not show the CS a hunger or desire to be the guy
I'm still trying to figure out why Collins was starting over Volek, or even Young for that matter. Regardless, I'm happy he was.
Volek must've looked really bad in training camp for the Titans to actually give his job to Kerry Collins after about a week of practice.
They blew it big time, they probably could have gotten as high as a 2nd rd pick but now they won't get much more than a conditional mid-late rd pick.
Volek got traded specifically because he took the job for granted AND THEN behaved like a baby when they brought in Collins. Had he used the competition as an opportunity to push himself and show the coaching staff that he was clearly the guy(I don't imagine it difficult to beat out Kerry Collins) he probably would have started Week 1. The fact that he was so indignant after a ho-hum preseason made the situation unworkable. -X-
This is true, but the Titans still handled this terribly. If they were sure that they couldn't deal with him on the roster, they should have dumped him earlier - with every day they waited, his value went down. They should have traded him before they got Collins, not afterwards.
are you serious? do you think before you post? First, why would they play for Brady Quinn when they just used the 3rd overall selection on a QB named Vince Young. Second, no team wants to suck during the year... every coach/GM wants to establish a winning mentality, not lose just to get a stud in the top-3 picks. I'm not saying that they won't end up there, but they are not trying to get there. Third, when was the last time you made an intelligent post?
