Round 1. Zach Mettenberger--6'5" will play at 245 in the NFL, massive arm, throws lasers, accurate, strong physical talent. Can throw the ball through the Meadowlands wind. Biggest issue is experience but could have huge upside. Not particularly mobile. Character issue a thing of the past? Big bet could bust or excell. Round 2. AJ McCarron--super accurate, perfect mechanics, intelligent, can read defenses, decisive, stronger arm than is given credit for, very composed and is a tremendous leader. Would be a perfect compliment to Rex's offensive style, could step in day 1 if Geno falters or Zach needs time to sit and learn and overcome his inexperience. A winner. Question abounds whether it's him or the talent (and OLine) around him. Safest bet at the position. Round 3A. Aaron Murray--tore his ACL otherwise he'd be a second rounder for sure. Pro style QB with great arm talent, as someone here noted, a flat-out baller. A little on the short side but very athletic and has a very quick release. Very good runner. Tough as nails, refused to come out of the game after he tore his ACL. Insurance in case all the other QBs suck, could become our Drew Brees. Rounds 3B, 4 and 5. BPA TE, WR, WR Rounds 6, 7 and all supplemental pics. OL, OL, OL, OL  We have to find our QB and start stocking offensive playmakers and OLine depth/starters. Let Rex fix the secondary in free agency. _
we can all say what we have said about the Geno Smith pick " Great Value" xDDDDDD good work stokes lool but i think i would give away the 2015 first round pick and add Tajh Boyd to the reportoir.
Lol stokes you beat me to it. I was going to make a mock just like this. I think we can land manziel on the first and mettenberger in the 2nd.
Love this Mock. We should def draft all 3 and create the NFL's first bionic QB. 10x SB champs lock it up
But in all seriousness, I always hear a lot of folks saying we should take a late flyer on a QB every year and I say that's throwing away a pick. If you are going to throw away ANY picks on a QB, then you damn well better get that franchise QB. Zach could be a massive hit or a massive bust. Hedge that with a safe 10 year starter with AJ and throw in the chance that you hit Drew Brees 2.0 with Murray after he heals. And trade the surplus in a year or 2. Ok, I'm not really serious. But I am. POSSIBLY. _
What you do is go skill, skill, skill and see what QB is left. McCarron might be left due to the injury, but no matter what you will have more holes on offense than you had at the end of last season -- holmes and Winslow will be gone. You can't go QB early and not have an offense to put around him.
You mean Murray with the injury. You can find all the skill you want, without the QB it doesn't matter. _
The more I think about it the more I want Manziel. Grab a receiver in the second like a Jordan Matthews or Davante Adams then go OLine and TE in the third.
Taking QB in round 1 and 2 makes you look indecisive and not confident your first round evaluation is accurate. If you take a QB in round 1 and 4 or 2 and 5 it looks like you are taking an insurance policy.
Dont draft a qb in the first two rounds, unless its amazing value. Draft playmakers, improve o line, sign offensive contributors thru free agency, give Geno one more year but bring in veteran competition. If Geno bombs again, go all in for qb next year. Not sure how good the qb class is next year, but i just dont feel comfortable drafting a high round qb without seriously, seriously improving the supporting cast
You too, have it backwards. THIS is the year to draft a QB, not last year, not next year--THIS year. A franchise QB is AMAZING VALUE where ever you get them. It's going to take a 1st round pick to get one of those top guys. You want to fix a faulty foundation by applying some Sakrete this year when you should be putting in a brand new foundation. Get the studs and electrical and plumbing work in rounds 2-7 and in FA. _
