1st ROUND Marqise Lee WR USC Ive never gotten off the the Lee bandwagon, combined with his injury, Coach Kiffin and poor QB play Lee’s stock has struggled to make those dynamic plays early on in the season. Lee is back playing well coming off the injury and has boosted his stock again. Lee has it all, to me he’s still the most complete WR prospect coming out, speed, route running, hands, Lee has it all, with also the ability to return kicks effectively as well. 2nd ROUND Melvin Gordon RB Wisconsin SPEED, Gordon is a Jamaal Charles clone down to the number 25 and the dreads. He is splitting time with senior James White and has been splitting carries his whole career, so he’s coming into the draft relatively fresh. Averaging 8.7 yds per carry. Theres been a report about him staying for school next year, but thats stupid as a RB u don't take hits for free... I expect him to be in the draft. Chris Ivory has put a good stretch of work these last couple of weeks, but with his injury history he shouldn't be counted upon start 16 weeks out of the season. Gordon already being part of a committee at Wisconsin would fit in in perfectly in our WCO. 3rd ROUND Deone Bucannon SS Washington State Bucannon literally hits like one, combine that with some great size (6’1 215) and ball skills (5 ints) and you have one of the best safeties in the draft. I like Antonio Allen, but competition needs to come for our backend, our weakest group on defense. Bucannon plays the run and pass equally well and can start from day 1. 3rd ROUND Bradley Roby CB Ohio State Roby has struggled this year and with other CBs emerging has lost his top spot as probably the best corner in the country. He hasn't lost his athletic ability though. Roby is extremely fast and agile and has good ball skills. He can play the run efficiently as well and projects to be a man corner in the NFL. Off the field troubles have also hurt his stock but he can be a steal if he gets his act together. 4th ROUND Tre Boston FS UNC The one guys who's in everyones mock. Boston has played CB and S for the Tar Heels and he should fill in to our FS spot rather nicely. Regardless if Ed Reed retires this season or decides to come back another young S should be brought in. The fact that Reed was brought in isn't a good sign towards Allen and how he is viewed as a long time starter. With Boston's versatility he would look good in green and white.
4th ROUND(COMP) Carl Bradford OLB Arizona State We need another backer, Coples will always be a liability at 290 lbs and we could definitely use more youth there. But seriously why hasn't Coples lost some weight he's without the heaviest LB in the NFL by far. Back to Bradford, he's a fiery guy I love the passion he plays with. He has 6.5 sacks last year and although he’s off his total from last year 11.5 he’s still quick productive and has arguably been ASU’ best player on defense this year. 5th ROUND Aaron Murray QB Georgia I count about 11 QBs that ive seen or heard in 1st round consideration i ultimately think between the juniors and red shirt sophomores everyone leaves except Hundley so that leaves Bridgewater, Mariota, Manziel, Carr, Mettenberger, Murray, McCarron, Boyd, Morris, Fales to be the “top” QBs available in this years draft. Saying that all of these guys cants go in the first and although i was hesitant at first to draft another QB circumstances have changed recently. Geno is a rookie but it wasn't like he was a 1st round pick. Hell Kellen Clemons was a 2nd just Geno and although i pray he doesn't end up that bad he hasn't exactly kept the doubters quiet. Murray has had a great college career, and statistically is one of the best SEC QBs of all time. Murray also currently tore his ACL but ive been working on this too long to change anything at this point lol. COMPETITION 6th ROUND Colt Lyera TE Oregon Lyerla is troubled but i think he’s worth the trouble if he could get some good guidance around him. Lyeria is out of the football program at Oregon and is currently working out in preparation for the draft. Lyerla is as talented if not more than the other big 3 TE’s in this draft, Amaro, ASJ, and Ebron. We take a flyer on him hopefully he works out if not its just a 6th. 7th ROUND Spencer Long OG Nebraska 1st team All Big-10 and 2nd team All American, but is this low due to an season ending knee injury. Theres your O-line pick. 7th ROUND(COMP) Alex Neutz WR Buffalo Productive tall WR that'll probably get Stephen Hill cut next year. Has played well against good competition this year, 9 rec 98 yds and td against Ohio State. **Couple Notes** I expect to go into FA and focus on one thing O-line help. It makes no sense why the Jets didn't retain Matt Slausen and now they are paying for it. Get a solid mid level OG to start for us and resign Austin Howard. I expect a restructure of a number of guys, Cromartie, D'Brick, Mangold and Harris to free up even more room to resign Will. Im predicting 2 comps one on the high end a 4th and another on the low end a 7th for 10 picks total
There is no way that Gordon last until the 2nd round. He is already a top 3 RB on almost every draft bpoard and some have him going as the first RB.....one or two say he is a top 10 talent. I agree. He is the best I;ve seen. Watch him hit the hole with speed. Lime noone else in college ball. Roby will probably be a 2nd rounder. Talented, big and physical. The trend in DB's
awesome draft in my opinion, except i don't see bradly roby being in the third round, i still think he's a 1st round - 2nd round prospect. i love marqise lee though, the hate on him makes no sense to me
There really isn't a clear cut #1 RB right now, Seastrunk has been #1 in most peoples eyes for a majority of the season. Gordon as of late but Kadeem Carey had a monster game yesterday and some might think he is the best RB in the country, either way RB isn't a position that you choose high on anymore and plenty of talented RBs have fallen to round 2 in previous years.
Too many picks on secondary. I would love to grab a RB but not that high in the draft. I really think we need to grab a linemen early.
Please no RB, --- and in the 2nd round??? Who will block for him? I have Bucannon in my draft in the 3rd too. But no reason for a S in the 4th round. Lyerla??? c'mon --- we're dreaming guys. Sorry, but other than Lee in the 1st and Bucannon in the 3rd, - I'm not in love.
Ed Reed is a stop gap, Dawan Landry is a journeyman who has let up a lot of plays in pass coverage. Cromartie is getting older, so his elite skills are diminishing therefore a player who already relied on his elite talent to make up for his not so great technique is only ring to get worse and then theres Milliner. Our secondary is horrible and needs to be fixed.
I understand the lineman concerns but we drafted 3 OLineman last year, Winters, Campbell and Aboushi. We should know better than anyone that guards can be had later in the draft Brandon Moore UDFA and Matt Slausen 6th round pick. Whats the point of drafting guys if you don't let them develop, new positions should be addressed. When exactly would be a good time to draft a RB in the 4th to get another McKnight or Powell??
I like it. Heavy focus on offense (especially receivers) and secondary which are our biggest areas of need.
