Totally agree. But they can't give up this. Just like when they say you can't give up on the running game if it's not working right away. This is the modern running game. It keeps defenses honest. If they need to change personnel then so be it. Start with the receiving corps. But they got to find someone who can run a slant and a QB who can throw one.
I have to tell you, the blame goes 100% on Geno. Yes, I said 100%. I don't know how 'robust' Mornhinweg's WCO is, but if it has any semblance to WCO as I know it, then it will feature at least 1 short read, 1 medium read and 1 deep read in any given passing play; that way, the QB can keep the defense honest, as he can hit the deep one on 1st and 10. Case in point - when Michael Vick had his resurgence, one of the reasons Vick could stay upright was because the 'hot route' was installed in nearly all the passing plays - so 1. when his deeper options were not open, he could just dump off to the shorter gains or 2. at times the use of screens, and designed quick slants burned the defense so bad that the defense tended to stay at home later in the game. So what's different now? Yep. Geno can't read the defense. AND he holds the ball way too long. Good luck fixing all that.
You may be 100% right. The problem is, as I pointed out on another thread, it's impossible to evaluate Geno now because there is no way to tell if his performance is the product of a lack of skill or a lack of training. Quite simply, he is not now, nor was he earlier in the year, ready to be a starting NFL QB.
yup he is screwed, no future what so ever. only rookie qb to ever have a problem reading defenses and getting rid of the ball quickly.
