Big cap number and I believe a 5 million bonus. He has terrible technique especially against speed receivers. He's not physical and lets the receiver get on top of him before he gets out of his back pedal. Based on what I've seen this year, it would be tough to pay him like a #1 corner.
There definitely needs be a restructuring of this contract this offseason. If not, cut his ass and pick up the best FA veteran CB.
The mysterious thing is he's shown last season that he can be a top tier CB but his production has fallen dramatically.
Simple you cut him and look to free agency. Lot of good corner back out there. Seattle will lose 1 or 2 guys this off season. There will be corner backs available. They need to draft wisely this off season.
defense is not the big problem here. Our offense is garbage. Even the play-calling yesterday was awful. ...on to next week.
Cro is fine and does not need to be cut. He does not have his speed back since the hyper extention. Rex needs to understand this is not revis and cro pair form last year. This cover 0 crap has got to end and he needs to accept for now our corners need the help over top. Hopefully the comment he made about running 2 man under for the rest of the season has a hint of truth to it. 90% of the "over our heads rape" has been on cov 0 coverage. I am a huge Rex supporter but most of this lays in his lap.
I've said it countless times already on this board but I'm perfectly fine with having Milliner and Walls as my 2 starting CBs next year.
Cros contract from day 1 was set up to be restructured as needed. Anytime you see a player sign a deal that lays even money cross the life of the contract with low cut face impact it ends up restructured multiple times. Cro has already adjusted his contract twice both times "in the big picture" it has favored the Jets. I personally (opinion) know Crow ill be back next season but more then likely it will be at a cost of somewhere around 6-7 million. At that price i have no problem with having a healthy Cro back. I love how no one is mentioning how improved his tackling is. He made some big hits yesterday.
While I agree with you that Rex needs to adjust, I completely disagree with your oxymoronic first couple paragraphs. How can profess that Cro is fine while admitting that he has lost his speed? He can't be both. If he needs help over the top, then he deserves to be cut. We are paying him too much money to have to hide and protect him. Unlike Milliner he does not have the excuse of being a rookie.
Anyone else suspecting that his 'bulking up' over the last off season slowed him down a little? I don't really agree with the piling on of Cromartie. He gets beat each week for a TD like almost every corner in the league minus a handful. Our secondary is much weaker losing 2 pro bowlers. People don't realize that losing Revis was bigger than we thought. The only reason his presence didn't seem to be missed was because of Laron Landry. Losing both of them decimated the secondary. The play where Cro got beat was really bad luck because the ball was under thrown (partially due to the wind). The receiver made a good play turning around and catching the under thrown ball. That one play was pretty much a gift. If not for the wind on that play, there's a good chance that ball sails further and could even get picked. Cro had position on the play, nobody was expecting that.
