Yes it was.....I see a pattern here....let Rex draft defense, let Idzik find offense sitting around. Seems to be working!
I think his breakout game was against the Pats but today was his most solid performance if that makes sense.
Actually, that's not too bad and idea ^^^. Seems like defensive draft picks pan out a bit better than offensive picks, especially in the lower part of each round. Maybe the best place to find O-talent is from young guys who've shown something here or there but not caught on yet. Rex gets the draft, Idzik gets the FA's.
You might be saying the above partially tongue in cheek but I've been thinking along those same lines for a while now. Rex can spot D talent so let him. Drafting on O is very hit or miss. I think we'd do better signing FA skill players and drafting mainly for OL and D. Of course if a skill player was clearly BAP then draft him. I'm just talking generalities here.
lol I don't know if I give Idzik or Marty more credit for coaching up Idzik's bargain-basement shopping. He isn't anywhere near as durable...but he DOES have big-time talent.
I still think we need to focus on drafting some offensive skill players in next years draft class. We invested in the D-Line and it looks great. Now it's time to improve the other side of the ball. Specifically wide receiver.
I really want Sammy Watkins or Marqise Lee in Green and White. I like Evans, but those two fit Marty's system better.
I am slightly concerned that he won't give this effort again, but it is true that he got called out vs the Pats and responded, so that's promising
Receiver has to be top priority. Evans has looked awesome so far but who knows who will be available when the Jets pick. Jets draft BPA, and they are right to do so but I would be looking to move up or do whatever it takes to land a receiver. It's time to invest and give Marty some weapons to work with. Rex is more then capable of building his defense, especially after drafting guys like Wilk, Coples, Richardson, and Milline. We have the pieces there. Rex should be able to build around that through FA or later round picks. They dont need to keep drafting defensive players in the first round. Unless a huge need becomes obvious.
It's been said from the beginning with Ivory; when he's healthy he's a top 15-20 RB. The problem has and will always be his health. The talent is there.
