Fitzgerald for our 2nd Round he redoes his deal and we get him for a 3-4 years, he should age well and fit in the system and those hands are reliable sign me up
Elite receivers are not easy to find. Larry is an elite receiver. Jets reeeally need a #1 threat. I'd say the money / pick is worth it.
I'd do it in a heartbeat. His game isnt predicated on speed, so I dont see the diminishing talent. Plus his catch radius is ridiculous. I dont worry about the Draft pick, they're not a guarantee slam dunk. I'd just worry about the cap hit, which is a problem
Absolutely would take Larry Fitzgerald for a 2nd. Only if we can tear down this current contract and re-do it. His cap figures going forward would hamstring the Jets
If you could rework his contract, Fitz. None of that year long suspension shit hanging over his head. He would be a great mentor and receiver for our young QB. Gordon is a talent, but a mess upstairs.
Straight up for Holmes and each team eats some contract. To sweeten the deal, throw in no higher than a 4th or one of our comp picks. Anything else? Pass. This is the kinda thing that got us in trouble back in the Day. Art Monk anyone?
No deal for us....no more Tebowing.away draft picks for expensive senior citizens Sent from my BNTV400 using Tapatalk
All depends on the salary - if its in the $16-18m region then absolutely not - I also wouldn't want to give up a high draft pick - so combine those two and I would say an easy pass.
Can't trade a comp pick and I can't see AZ wanting to take on Holmes. Agree on the Art Monk comparison, Fitzgerald is close to going on the downside. _
Are you stoned? We have spent pick after pick after pick, on D players. We are going with a young QB, you dont spend the pick on a one and done guy. If you want a VLT, you force Sanchez to cut his contract in half...(He aint getting 6 mil anywhere else, but he is in a unique position here and need you need 2 qb's, (see Testaverde, Achilles) and the timing is right BC of the Rookie Cap, plenty of FA's) And spend the picks on guys that will grow withSmith. Something the previous GM never did. With an extra 6 mil, if you need a Vet backup, at WR or TE, you have plenty of cash. (Too lazy to see what dumping Holmes nets) Though, I would say the current corps, plus draft picks,,,completes the perennial contender cycle. This team, has all the pieces in place.
Everything about this trade I back. Fitzgerald just plays football. This is a character guy I want around Geno.
Again, Hobbes - if Fitzgerald were to rework his contract, I would be down for giving him a 2nd. He's good for at least 5 or 6 more seasons of #1 WR productivity. He doesn't drop the football. Sanchez is cut next off-season. That's about 8 million in savings so say goodbye. A player like Fitzgerald can do wonders for Geno Smith, the guy can catch anything and everything on that football field.
I was at the Atlanta Cardinals game today in Glendale. Fitz played pretty well after not practicing most of the week with a hamstring. I think once he recovers he would be a great addition to the team. I don't see him being traded all that fast. The Cardinals have a D that's every bit as good as the Jets D and are still in the hunt for a playoff spot. I just can't see them dumping him right now.
