There are those who love to be the glass half-empties and question offensive play calls at certain times. They will call out MM for not running the ball more to grind clock near the end, or question not throwing the ball when the QB has a hot hand. Sure, one can point to plays that may have gone better or changed outcomes, but hindsight is 20/20. There is one thing that I hang my hat on though when comparing MM to our past two coordinators (well, one I guess. I don't think TS can really be counted as a real OC): When it's 3rd and 7, we no longer run a five yard pass play When it's 3rd and 11, we no longer run an 8 yard pass play and when we're stuck at 3rd and 22, we don't run a delayed handoff for 5 yards I loves me some Marty M. When our QB drops back on 3rd and long, I no longer have that dreaded feeling of "we're either not going to catch it, or we're going to catch it and still be short", I get a bit of nerves knowing that we're actually trying to get a first down, and it's up to the QB to execute. And I love every second of it.
I wouldn't blame all those short passes on the OC...look more at the guy checking down on those throws.
Really? Go over to the Rams message board and look at how people are shredding Bradford because all of a sudden, he's throwing 4 yard digs on 3rd and 6.
I agree. We need Schotty to derail a third Top 5 pick QB to fully evaluate his complete lack of everything needed to be an offensive coordinator.
I just want to see some consistency these next two games before the JETS bye week. This winning then losing roller coaster the JETS have been on is just ridiculous. It's been 7 games now Marty, you know what this offense is capable of and what adjustments need to be made to get this offense moving the chains and putting points on the board.
The guy knows how to call a game and it helps that Geno is going to be a player in this league. The fact that Geno gets better each week and the offense is jelling more each week says everything you need to know. This is well deserved by us, it's been a long time.
Against NE we had a 3rd and 20ish? First thing I thought to myself was "Hope we get a good punt" turns out we actually got the first down. Thanks to the play calling and our receivers actually getting YAC Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
What if MM leaves for a HC job next year (i.e., Minny, Tampa...etc.), how will that impact Geno's development?
How was Belicheat his first time as a NFL HC or Pete Carroll? MM also had the worst GM in the history of football during that span.
Marty has been good and I kinda knew he would be. He calls good plays, doesn't dink and donk like we have seen here for awhile and proof is there. With a rookie QB and average offensive talent he has us as a middle of the pack solid offense who will get better. M&M!
i wish he would run the goddamn ball a bit more often. BUT morningwood has done a pretty darn good job thus far.
The same thought has gone through my head, but I don't think he would get hired after just one solid season. If they make a solid run into the playoffs and he follows up with another good year, that's a resume for another team to take a chance on him.
Jets is not his first OC job. He was an excellent OC in Philly as well. He already has an excellent resume for a HC gig.
