Do you think that the Jets should make a run at a real top flight RB? I mean the first 4 games are the toughest and if they can make it out of there with 1 loss, this team should prime itself for a playoff push.

With that said, I know people are going to be saying there is no way for this to happen im just saying what if. I also believe that the Colts are more beatable then NE, because our secondary is the strongest unit on Defense and the Colts dont have that great of a RB.

don't have to worry about it, this team isn't going 3-1 and it doesn't matter who is running behind the line right now, very few holes

I'm missing something. What's the connection between going 3-1 and getting a top running back? Not saying I don't agree, I just don't get the link.

But yes, I'm all for it. Both the running back and the 3-1 thingy.

I don't think the playoffs are realistic. Look around the league and you see at least 5 teams that are pretty much a lock to finish with a better record then the Jets, even if everything broke right for them.

I don't see how going 3-1 primes us to make a run at a top flight RB. Do you mean tank the season and go for a high pick? I don't understand...

Playoffs are out of the question. We couldn't pressure a QB to save our lives. I'm really starting to hate the 3-4. I saw new England having up to 6 guys at the line, and Chad was running for his life (4 sacks).

I'm guessing the caller is saying that if we get to 3-1 without a running game, should we go out and get another RB.

I suspect the process of thinking is somewhat flawed as (a) there are no 'top running backs' available; and (b) if we're 3-1 why do we want to change a good thing?

On the topic, I think we need to boost our O-line's run blocking skills by coaching and hard work before we look for another back. I like Barlow.

If we go 2-2 I'll be happy, 3-1 is not going to happen.

No use ponying up for a stud RB if our line isn't doing anything at all. As others have said, playoffs isn't a realistic expectation right now so why waste the resources?

As an aside I'm really looking forward to a big shootout in the Indy game. Chad always brings it against Manning.

We need a line on both sides of the ball. It's not the RB we need,it's the O-line to make holes that we need. That, and getting some pressure on the QB is what we should be worried about.

I'd say 7 games winning optomistically and I don't think thats enough to make the playoffs. As for making a run at a running back who is out there worth getting. We got barlow for a 4th rounder and i think you have to look at the draft for our next RB. Now lets go beat buffalo.

where would you expect to get a top flight Rb midseason? Do you think some team that is 1-3 is gonna give us there "top flight RB" because we are 3-1? We are gonna have to make do with what we have this year, which probably isn't enough to make a serious playoff run.

    Going 3-1 means we're going to beat Indy. ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... Yeah, not gonna happen

Remember last year when everyone was pleading for the Jets to go hard after Reggie Bush? Well, what the Maroney pick should prove to everyone is that a good running back can be had anywhere in the draft. NE got him at 21 and so far it looks like the guy will be a good running back. The lines are where a team's foundation should be laid. Step 1 has already been taken. Look for the Jets to select amongst the top DT's in the draft this year. (That Robertson pick was a complete bust given that they packaged picks to move up and select him. When you put that much into 1 pick, he better turn out to be a game changer) Running backs, for the most part, are a product of their QB and offensive line.

Im sure Ill probably take some heat for this but technicaly Martin may be back after week 6. While I doubt it, Im just saying who knows. Martin comes back week 6 and his comeback lights a fire under all the o-line and the team and general and we make a push to the playoffs and go all the way to the superbowl and send martin into retirement carrying him off the field. Sounds like its probable actually.

From what I've seen, it's the Oline, not the RB's. There's just no where to go!

We already traded for Barlow. We're not trading for a 5th HB. If we add one it will be during the draft.

I like Barlow, I just don't like the line.

I have a feeling that we'll improve dramatically with the return of both Teague and Kendall.

Is there any timetable on Teague?

Man, Superman couldn't run for yards yesterday, There were no holes to run thru. When the Pates ran off tackle the holes were there. somehow Mangini gotta get these young guys to play better, and I do know it takes some time to gel. Allentown Ernie.

I don't think we need to trade for a RB, rather start houston now to see what he can do.

Trading for a RB now would be very wasteful. I think we use Barlow more, Houston should get a chance, as should Washington, Askew, etc. As Mangini has said, he is looking for somebody to distinguish themselves. Clearly, Blaylock is not the future as a starting RB given our current personnel.
