we can't run for shit, but our passing game looks great...imagine what it would be like if we COULD run the ball...this encourages me, our running game WILL improve (i think...it will...right?)

    keep it up BOYS

We have 2 rookies on out O-line. Give them a chance will you. Pennington is making good decisions and our receivers are doing a great job so far. I do hope we can pick up the running game as Chad will be even better with the Playaction back in his armoury. I still miss the tucks he used to be able to do when we had a dominant O-line and rushing attack.

But im impressed with the effort in the 2nd half all started by Cotchery. Up until that point we looked a little like we had accepted defeat. Then he turns a good gain into a TD and Brady throws up a Duck and we are back in it.

Im encouraged for the season. I think we can go 6-7 wins, and be in much better stead for next season.

We have a glaring weakness at RT with Clement playing. He just isn't that good at that spot. Also, LG was an issue today.

  5. Katnik struggled mightily. I thought when jones came in the pass protection got better...the running was still a struggle, but any imrpovement is obviously good.

Truthfully, despite the inexperience on the left side...I see more problems on the right side w/ Moore and Clement.

The left side, for the most part, is doing a nice job. It's the right side that is REALLY getting pushed around. Moore is getting manhandled on pretty much every running play, and Clement should be able to use his huge frame much more effectively. This off-season we need to improve the right side of the OL, and get a RB. Even with a stronger OL, we shouldn't be satisfied with Barlow (who I like, but as a backup) and Blaylock.

Exactly how I saw it. I thought Mangold, Jones and D'Brick did a great job in the passing game. The right side which should be givening some push to the running game is not only not getting push but they have become a huge liability in the passing game. I think Jones may well start at LG next week, he earned it.

  9. Yeah I think Jones may have fnally found his spot on this team..he looked very good in pass protection and pulling for the running game.

Moore is not the player he once was. He looks to have lost some strength. He continually gets pushed backward by the bullrush and delivers no pop in the running game.

Clement I can live w/ for now at RT as he's a saavy veteran that 9 out of 10 plays isn't gonna hurt you. However, w/ the great size that he has..he is awfully unaggressive and can get pushed around in both the run and passing game. That is a spot long term we will need to upgrade. We need a true anchor for the running game. Maybe Ed Blanton?

This defense really, really misses John Abraham's pass rush. Even if he wasn't durable and even if he was a jerk in the lockerroom, Abe could change a game by going to the line of scrimmage and sitting on his hands because the other team had to craft their offensive gameplan around him.

Ellis needs to step up to the plate if we're gonna win games this season. Period.

The lines are hurting us, but this isn't anything new. When you have 4 lineman starting who weren't hear last year and three of them are basically rookies you are going to have problems. But games like this should make them better down the road. But moving forward they are probably going to have to find a new LG, RG and RT.

On the defensive side of the ball, the ends have been solid, but the NT is a disaster. We just don't have a Vince Wilfork and the middle linebackers are getting killed.

They keys going forward are finding a NT, a pass rushing linebacker/end, some veteran offensive lineman who can run block especially at guard and a running back.

We all knew this coming into the season. It take 2-3 years to rebuild the "O" line, especially after hitting rock bottom last year. Improvement will come with game experience.

On the "D" side, Abraham was an impact player. Very difficult to replace.

The rushing game is atrocious. I'm not sure it would be any better with C-Mart, though I have to say the kind of runner that would have a chance behind this line is someone like Lamont Jordan, which really bugs me because we kept Abraham for only 1 more year when we clearly should have tagged Lamont (another screwup by Bradway-Edwards).

Mangold and D-Brick are OK as rookies but they don't have the size on their opponents that they did in college and can't make the same impact that offensive linemen years ago did, like Ogden or Munoz. You have these 340 pound ends and tackles and long arms and nice feet and good technique can only take you so far.

More and more "can't miss" O-linemen are not making a huge impact, if at all, until a few years in the NFL. I'm not sure if it's because 90% of their college games they had a talent AND size advantage (usually 20-30 pounds) and now the talent end is neutralized (going against NFL vets) and the size advantage is often a disadvantage. Look at Robert Gallery, another guy who is closer to a bust than a superstar, chosen #2 overall.

Don't get me wrong -- I like D'Brick and Mangold but they are not making the impact I saw from #1 tackles years ago, like the Jets had with Marvin Powell and Chris Ward from Day 1. They're still solid and they're holding their own but they're not creating holes for the running game all the time.

Normally, that'd be acceptable -- but as others here have noted, the other side of the line is HORRENDOUS and that means that overall the line play is poor and it allows the other team's defense to focus and stack against D'Brik, the right side, and Mangold.

    JESUS................

When Jones was put in place of Katnick the O-Line play improved by an order of magnitude.

Brick and Mangold were going against one the best and most experienced Defensive lines they will face in the NFL, if not the best............... WTF did you expect? They improved significantly in the second half, once again by an order of magnitude.

Could you not see the improvement? Were you so pissed off from the first half that you guys missed it?

Lord have mercy we should be ecstatic that basically a Rookie/inexperienced O-Line, instead of wilting and giving up, got significantly better and improved on almost every set of downs as the second half progressed.

This is going to be the best front 7 they will face all year. Those guys are fantastic. Yes they manhandled our O-line for two quarters, but like I said, I was quite pleased with how our line improved as the game wore on.

No, you're right I definitely have seen improvement. And I am smart enough not to judge by 2 games for the rookies.

I'm just saying that in the old days, I remember top-ranked tackles and guards coming out and DOMINATING All-Pro defensive stars. Nothing wrong with it NOT happening now, I'm just saying that with the right side TERRIBLE we won't see D'Crick, the Left Side, and Nick kicking butt against good or better D-Lines.

Our O-line is improving and its fun to watch. This is a rebuilding year so I'm not expecting a lot of Ws and I enjoy the games more and really look at how the guys are developing. Mangini is a great coach, I love our new staff, I hope we have them for the next 5 to 10 years. Chad Pennington is playing outstanding. I'm not gonna put him in the category of Marino but this season is going to be like that, its gonna be all Chad all year. We have no running game as of right now, holes might start opening up come week 8 when our o-line starts to gel. I'm looking forward to it all. We really don't need a runningback, I don't know many who can run with no openings.

WE HAVE A NEW ERA. THE C-C-C!! CHAD COLES COTCH.

I give ur o-line some credit, they r young, and were playing arguably the best d-line in the nfl.

    ur d-line was shocking tho
