I just hope they can contain Spiller... Neither Doug Martin or Steven Ridley can hit the corner like this guy can, and we all know our biggest weakness is speed on the outside.. If we can contain him, this game is ours.
My concern also....difference from last season is the defense is way more athletic and has way more speed all over the place.
I hate to post this guy, but looks like Wilkerson will most likely be back for Sunday! Rich Cimini Wilkerson (ankle) tells reporters that he'll play Sunday vs. Bills. #nyj http://t.co/0ZvMS3ek5c
Glad to hear Mo will be ready for Pettine Bowl 1. Big game Sunday. I know it seems the same way for every game at the beginning of the season, but this one is big.
Yes it is! Division rival, fight to be above .500, and against the Bills who just came off a big win last week. Not to mention it's the dual of rookie qb's and the duel of Rex Ryan and Mike Pettine. Should be fun
Coples has looked shaky early on, I know he's only been back less than a month but we need him to step up and help our edge rush
It's funny, our front 7 has been so dominant as a whole, you forget that Coples really hasn't done anything yet since coming back from the injury. Once he gets going, they'll be even nastier.
He's coming back from a fairly significant injury while learning a new position. I'm not down on Coples yet. He had a strong rookie season and I expect him to eventually get it going.
Coples had two QB hits (could of been sacks), one tackle for loss against the Bills. He didn't do anything really against the Titans / Falcons. He will turn it up though eventually. This Sunday against a weak Steelers offensive line is a start.
I noticed Coples in as one of two down linemen opposite Wilkerson on a few snaps last night. It's interesting that the Jets are asking him to take on such a varied role this year. With a lot of young players I would think it might be asking him to do too much but with Coples it's an interesting choice. Hard to get in a comfort zone when your role shifts from play to play and hard to take plays off when you're not in that comfort zone.
Coples is a pretty smart player. I think once he gets fully healthy and back in the swing of things he will play better. Hopefully the Coples we saw at the end of last season shows up against the Steelers
coples should be at the LOS most of the time. he is too stiff and not quick enough in space. not convinced that its injury related.
.....and when I read that post, - it makes me wonder on my own, "why didnt we just draft a pass-rushing OLB to play the pass-rushing OLB position? Instead of drafting a versatile, athletically gifted DE & try to get him to play OLB?" Multiple fronts, schemes, looks, ---- players being able to play multiple positions on the line, etc, etc ---- all points taken. But why do we have to take the hard way?
I dont think we drafted Coples thinking we'd go DE again the next season. When Sheldon was available and the Jets loved him they felt they had to just take the BPA. Now they are making lemonade and Id say its working. Coples is there for great depth and can play in different spots.
Since teams of late are trading good players, would it be a bad idea to trade Coples for let's say a 2nd rounder? I just don't think he fits as a OLB, and since Richardson's the real deal I think we could manage without Coples.
It wouldn't be a bad idea, it would be a TERRIBLE idea. We need linebacker depth, plus he still plays DE and DT. I saw him in a nice variety of positions last night. Trading a first rounder one year later for a 2nd rounder would be a complete fail.
