Its amazing how bi polar Jets fans have become.Everyone wanted Rex gone a week ago,People wanted Matt Simms to play a week ago.Now its " Give Rex an Extension" " Geno is God" .Its pretty ridiculous

That is what winning one game does to this fan base.

He did a good job that year.....

Rex took a crappy QB to back to back AFC title games.

Parcells is an all time great coach. But his legacy and his prime came with the Giants. He was instrumental in turning the Jets franchise around due to the people he brought in and his time here made the Jets credible again but he was not a better coach then Rex has been for this team.

He just wasn't here long enough.

I think this just means that the Jets have a wide and varied fan base, which is a good thing.

Rex is a GREAT defensive coach. Probably the best in the NFL. However, he still makes so many ridiculous in-game mistakes, it drives me nuts. Last night, for example, he challenged that Roddy White fumble that was clearly a catch, and went for 1 instead of 2, that could have given the Jets a 14 point lead. Those little things drive me nuts, but besides that, Rex is great. Having a good OC is huge for him too.

His use of his challenges are definitely a problem.

I find it hard to believe, after people presumably are watching other games (giants) or our opponents (falcons) that we still see Rex's "mistakes" as unique in the coaching world, or even relevant in the big picture

    Jets

Damn, enjoy the win. Had a blast watching a fine group of young players coming together. Can't wait for the next game.

As long as they don't cost us a game who cares. It is like people who complain about Geno Smith's small hands. Who cares!?

Nobody gets all of those right. I don't think going for two at that point would have been smart, but you can argue both ways. I also am quite content with Rex's explanation of the challenge.

The bottom line is always going to be: who can get more from the talent we have. No coach in the league has done it since Rex has been here. Every one who has done more has done it with more talent at the QB position.

Love Rex. He has to stay. He is learning on the job, especially the game management (challenges, time outs). He needs help on the challenges from someone upstairs to take the his emotion out of it. He challenged the spot on that bohanon run and he was like a yard and half short...wasn't even close.

We finally have a coach that can take the worry of Rex's ineptitude on offense and put it to bed.
Marty may be the best thing to ever happen to Rex. He may just save his job.

All scoring and turnover plays are automatically reviewed, as well as anything within 2 mins. Challenges are about as insignificant as they can be in the NFL now. How many times do you need 3 challenges anymore?
It costs a timeout, which means nothing in the first half.
How people can even bitch about challenge results, especially yesterday's, is beyond me.

What does matter for the NYJ is their preparation, game planning, in game adjustments, the fire and passion the players demonstrate, physicality, the cohesion of all the new parts, and the development of the young guys.
All those things are humming right now. But hey, if some of you guys want to harp on a 1st half challenge....

The bigger concern for me on that challenge play.....it was another opportunity for a turnover which we didn't capitalize on. If we keep playing this aggressive on D though, i expect the takeaways to start improving.

Obviously not fire him, at the moment. Still 11 games to play though. Putting Mark in with the 3's was still an awful move too. I agree with the people who say "Who can we hire that is better than Rex?" Answer might be: no one.

    Same here

he isn't perfect, but he's the best we've had since Weeb.

Now I can't say he's as good a coach as belichick or parcells...but for the Jets he is. Rex never quit on this franchise as those 2 did

I thought the same thing when I saw the play but what I noticed was our defense looked like it was out of place on the play that the Falcons were hurrying for. Landry was yelling to guys and it felt as though they were confused whether if it was the fumble or just the quick line up by the Falcons. I'd like to believe rex figured even if it wasn't overturned he would atleast give his defense a minute to reset and refocus.

Absolutely no way he should be fired next season, especially if Marty is here.

Not being a Rex guy, I have a feeling that if you give Rex enough time, he'll have the successes that the Belicheks and the Harbaughs and the Dungys have had.

Ryan is still learning the HC business but it does appear that the learning curve is finally beginning to flatten out a bit. He really needs to replace the booth guy that gives him so much bad advice on challenges though.
