Just to keep track of the mistakes we are making each week. We will see if it gets better week by week

    [table="head"]Wk|Opponent|INTs|Fumbles| Penalties| PEN Yards| Sacks Allowed
    1 | Buccaneers | 1 | 1 |6 |45 |5
    2| Patriots | 3 | 1 | 8 |66 |4
    3| Bills | 2 | 0 |20 |168 |0
    4 | Titans | 2 | 2 |10 |66 |5

Nice idea, as of right now the 20 penalties stand out as the outlier. Also, are those all fumbles or lost fumbles?

Not surprising, the no sacks game was Geno's best game throwing the ball and had the most shots down the field for him. The Bills banged up secondary and our healthy WR core played into it also, but giving a Geno clean pocket does wonders for him and basically every QB in the league

Judging by the penalties an turnovers the last 2 games, things seem to be spiraling out of control.

    Huh? Turnovers by game 2,4,2,4.

    Penalties by game 6,8,20,10.

I don't see spiraling out of control at all.

That's taking box score stats and applying them to box score results. Geno had some pressure yesterday in the first half, but Tenn only started sending the house when the Jets were behind by a lot and Tenn knew they had to throw.

And that was mainly after early turnovers created by Geno with little pressure.

Hmm I might have to rewatch then, I thought Tennessee also sent blitzes and pressure earlier in the game, before being behind by a lot, because the Jets kept on getting themselves in 2nd and 3rd and longs.

I could have sworn I saw Geno getting hit a lot in the 1st half

I'm looking at the penalty yards > # of penalties. 5 yds isn't big, it's those 15 yds that will end your drives.

Thank you for not adding a "Bad Call by Refs" category in your spread sheet.

I saw a small handful, but the Oline handled them when they were sent for the most part. He even had time on the play where he scrambled and lost the ball.

Gregg Williams did a good job of disguising coverages, I guess, but Geno also made enough boneheaded decisions that can't just be explained by short zones and stunts.

Oh spiraling out of control from the beginning then? 20 penalties is a complete debacle, not to mention the Jets lead the league in that category, then averaging 3 TO a game, there little to no chance to be successful, penalties are just as costly as a pick or a fumble

I'll take your word for it. I don't really feel like watching that game again ha
So far the 20 looks like an outlier right now.

The turnovers are constant. I just took an exception to spiraling out of control comment.

5-yd penalties also hurts too when it negates a 1st down/TD pass completion, long-ydg run gain or a defensive 3rd & short stop giving the O a new set of downs.

    On the penalties:

    How about [who] commits [what]?

I am sure the OL is stinking up to the high heavens. I don't know why Jets went with former TE coach starting off as OL coach this year. Maybe Alex Gibbs isn't coming back to NFL but isn't there a better alternative than that?

Good job Murrell. Two other stats worth tracking would be missed tackles, blown coverages (miscommunication) and 3rd down conversions against the defense. Any conversion over 50% could be considered a mistake. Those would give a pretty good idea on how well the defense played on a particular Sunday.
