A JET team many NFL "experts" deemed as "last place finshers", "The Circus Part Deaux", "Scrubs building from Scratch", etc., this is 1 HUGE GAME in terms of RECOGNITION & RESPECT! A WIN on the road vs a talented team such as the Titans will afford Rex & Co. (as well as ALL OF US), the RIGHT to talk some maddd smack! With JET achievement expectations placed low (some stating we may win no more than 3 games), a JET victory -'specially if it's done in an adequate or better yet, a convincing manner - would be LARGE in the RESPECT DEPT around the NFL!

Let us all gather around holding our "virtual hands" together & bow our heads to the "Football Gods" in the hope that our JETS come out on TOP!

    Amen my JET-Brethren....AMEN!

This game is big, but we have some much tougher games before the bye. Come back with this thread after we win a couple of those.

Todays gunna be an enjoyable day to watch football, Giants at 1, Jets at 4, Patriots at 8. Then the Dolphins play tomorrow night. Ill savior this weekend because it could end up being really good.

No, I think the OP has a point. If we win this one and our defense dominates then the rest of the teams on our schedule will become skittish. That will work for us going forward.

I don't think a win over the Titans means that much. Sure, they have played well to this point, but neither their offense nor defense is anything to write home about.

Like I said, this game is big, but we will have much bigger games coming up.

I think Don's point was that we won't really know where we stand til about 7, when the game ends.

I seriously doubt Atlanta and New Orleans will fear anyone's defense ... Jets can get a huge win today but they haven't really hit a challenging part of the schedule yet.

I think there is a good chance for a 3 way tie in the AFC East come Tuesday morning.

this game is meaningless. win or lose we are max a 5-6 win team. which is fine, since we are in a rebuild.

Wait, so no matter how our body of work looks after four complete games (a quarter of the NFL season), we will still, perhaps through some unknown law of nature, be locked into a 5 or 6 win season? Makes a lot sense.

Too much hype up front. Its a big win and the league will take notice but the Jets aren't about to be labelled world beaters with a W over the Titans. Lets see what happens after the first half of the season.

I think our offense doing well this game would make more of an impression than losing and holding the Titans to 3 points.

Enjoy the game. Hope for a win. And more importantly - no injuries.

Being (3-1) would be great, but with wins over the Buccaneers, Bills and Titans, I don't think it actually says that much. It does say that the Jets are not worthless or terrible, as ESPN felt, when they ranked the Jets #32 before Week 1. A tough stretch of games is coming up.

Explain. If the Jets win today, they are 3-1. You are saying they can't squeak our four more wins from:

    Falcons
    Steelers (God Awful)
    Patriots (Should beat them)
    Bengals
    Saints
Bills (Not a good team who, without those insane 20 penalties, would have lost by multiple TDs)
Ravens (Not that good this year)
    Dolphins X2
    Raiders (Shit tier)
    Panthers (Awful)
    Browns (Shit tier)

We should get at least five or six more wins from that schedule.

If the Jets hope to do anything this year as far as a playoff run, they need to win games like today. By that I mean beating a mediocre team. I still don't expect much from the Jets until '14-'15, but a win today sure would make the first quarter of the season damn fun.

This game's importance stems from potential wild card scenarios, not proving the league wrong. Let's see what happens during the Patriots - @Bengals - Saints stretch before we start throwing out the I-told-ya-so's.

I agree with all of this, but at the same time, if we are 3-1 after today, you are going to have a hard time convincing me that we are only winning 2 or 3 more games all year (as all of the 5-6 win prognosticators would want us to believe).

Every game will show where we stand - the journey has only begun. Each game is as important as the last.
