The New York Jets might not have the services of Chris Ivory for some time.

ESPNNewYork.com's Rich Cimini reported Monday that the Jets are "not expecting a quick rebound" after Ivory re-injured his hamstring during Sunday's 27-20 win over the Buffalo Bills.

It is the same hamstring Ivory hurt on the first day of training camp, but the strain is in a different spot. The initial hamstring injury wiped out a good portion of his training camp, and the Jets are prepared for a similar absence this time around.

With Ivory gone, Bilal Powell becomes the Jets' clear-cut No. 1 option out of the backfield. Powell set career highs with 149 yards on 27 attempts against the Bills.

To this point, general manager John Idzik has swung and missed in his attempt to remake the Jets' backfield. Ivory can't stay on the field, while Mike Goodson remains off the grid as he completes his four-game suspension.

The days of Curtis Martin running free in the secondary seem so long ago.

That'll keep him fresh for the play-off run.

Well Goodson comes back next week and Powell has really come on so I'm not really concerned at all. We get to see what Powell is about again this sunday, maybe he can put up another 100+ game, we shall see.

This is not the worst news in the world, with Goodson coming back after next week.

Well at least he'll be fresh for a late season run.

Regardless, it was a good move to trade for him. He has a skill set no other RB in the fourth round had, but of course Idzik will get killed for it in the media while disregarding all the positive moves he made.

Keep him out through the bye week and let the leg heal. See what Powell/Goodson can do.

Im looking forward to seeing what Goodson can do as long as he is in shape and ready to roll. He hasnt been the most durable back either.

That's right OP, put a negative spin on Idzik and the front office ,in any way or chance that you can get. We all knew Chris Ivory was IR victim waiting to happen , and so did the the front office. So what? Jets hadn't much of a back field anyway so they had to gamble, nothing new there.

Living in the past and pining over the days of Curtis Martin???

Are we next going to hear how much you miss Bill Parcels?

Those were the words of Hanzus, the writer of the article.

Yeah but it happens, Colts are already missing Laron landry, Dolphins lost Dustin Keller. i know we gave up a draft pick but we are certainly not the first team to make a trade for a player only to have him injured.

Don't kill the OP. he just posted the article. The writer of the article however, like most media clowns, managed to take a cheap shot at the GM for selecting Ivory.

I just love the after the fact, Monday morning QB inputs from these guys. Idzick knew exactly what he was doing, and it was a damn good move weighting the risks and rewards.

If we are fortunate enough to make the playoffs, and Ivory comes back strong, the hit and a miss will be more like a home run and these guys will once again eat shit.

Depends upon the severity of the injury. If he's not going to be available to practice for at least 6 weeks, we might want to IR him designated to return, which is a minimum of 8 weeks out. That would allow us to free up a roster spot. Pats did this for Vereen and the Giants did it for Brown.

It might be a good idea to bring back Bell. Our RB depth will certainly be challenged in the next two weeks until we get Goodson back from suspension. All we have behind Powell is Alex Green and Bohannon.
