Brian Bassett Per Jake: “@Steiny31: Jets have signed former Hofstra RB Kareem Huggins to the Practice Squad. Really liked this guy before the knee injury sounds and smells like an ivory replacement in the making. more likely than not, this kid will never see the field for the Jets. They have Goodson coming back in 2 games, and in the mean time aren't likely ot make a 53 man roster move unless Ivory's injury is a lot worse than they're letting on
You honestly think this is an Ivory replacement? Lol This kid will never see the field. We gave up a fourth round pick for Ivory and we knew he had an injured hamstring. We have yet to see him as the number one back. Not to mention Goodson will be back in a week.
Yes i actually do. Ivory has had months to get healthy and cant. Everytime he touches the field it ends with him missing practices not being able to carry the load. Sure we are all happy about powells performance but it was the bills doesnt everyone drop a 100 on them? Huggins had 4.2+ speed coming out of college and is now built like ivory and can catch the ball. If hes actually healthy i like Huggins more then powell and ivory.
The Jets have been horrible in short yardage and running out the clock situations for years. Some guy a few years removed from Hofstra is an improvement?
Ain't happening man. Ivory had a hamstring injury when we signed him and has been trying to recover. Hamstring injuries are a horrible thing and takes time to heal. He rushed back into the season and re aggravated the leg. He is a proven NFL back and when given playing time, we can evaluate what we have in him. Replacing Powell? He's the 7th best rusher in the NFL right now. He is ranked 7th in yardage right now and has been a dynamic guy in our backfield. I understand your liking toward this new guy, but saying he will start over Ivory and Powell is nuts LOL
Rags to Riches is not unheard of in the NFL although Huggins couldn't make most of his limited opportunities in the past. You know, unlike the other UDFA out of Hofstra whose # is unofficially retired by NYJ. He wasn't too bad. The rate of drops I see in today's NFL makes me miss Chrebet even more. He would've been much greater in today's passing heavy + offensive player protected league. /sigh
