And as we have seen in past years it is better to have talent spread around and not just in 1 area. If talent is talent and it doesn't matter what position you play then we would still have Revis.
LOL what??? Orakpo wouldn't cost 16M and our LB's need help Barnes isn't an everydown backer, McIntyre is solid but nothing special and Pace is old Orakpo and Coples would give us 2 OLB to move around the line Comparing that to the Revis situation is nonsense
I honestly wouldn't be opposed to signing Orakpo and Byrd and just basically going all offense in this draft. Orakpo would replace Pace, and Byrd gives us that playmaking ability at FS.
Get it done Tanny. I wouldn't be opposed to this but we would have an embarassment of riches on D. The O needs help, real help.
I agree. A past injury is going to drive the price down a lot, and for good reason. Look what happened to Javon Kearse. When he was in his prime in Tennesse, he was the Mario Williams/Julius Peppers of that time. Just a goddamn beast. String of injuries and he's never the same. Now he's not even really remembered, despite dominance in his early years. How's Stat's 100M$ looking for the knocks. Orakpo's also pretty damn good, but he's not Von Miller or Demarcus Ware. I disagree.. Respectfully. First of all I do think Barnes could easily be a starter. He's no all-pro, but he's competent. He's also still relatively young. I'd give him Calvin Pace's job in a hot minute. I'm curious as to how having two OLBs (Coples and Orakpo) that are pure pass rushers and not really good in coverage would work out. It's not going so well for Cole and Barwin in Philly. All that said... Calvin Pace is the weakest link among the starters by a country mile. Last year should have been his last year. Im all for replacing him with anyone younger and faster. I'd rather use a second or a third to go and grab somebody. Especially since contrary to what ESPN likes to tell us, we have pretty damn good young prospects at all the positions. I'd like a true star back (If Gurly's still on the board for us, I'll go hold Idzik at gunpoint. Lamin Barrow's probably someone we could get in the second. Kind of off topic bur I was PRAYING (and I dont pray) they would take Damontre Moore in the third round this year. I know he has some sort of substance issue or something, but that was a first round linebacker. Von Miller's got issues too, still he single handedly turned that D around.
Agreed. I like the way we've been building this defense through the draft. I'd stay the course with building that way and add another LB to the mix in 2014. We are going to need to start addressing the O-line and obviously the skill positions on offense to have a more balanced team.
This is all dependent on what Washington does. Can we at least wait to see what they do before we talk about signing a guy that isn't even available
Sure, get him but only after we sign three new receivers, a top tier RB and maybe some new OLs and a TE. Then you can start looking at adding something to the defense.
its still 8 million to the side of the ball we don't need help on. Is that really hard for you to understand?
this is where we start the " I want Jimmy Graham in Green and White" fan Club. We have done well developing defense through draft- lets keep going that way. I want free agency money spent on offense- Graham, Guard, reciever. Perhaps we try and buy a safety. For all the knocks on Calvin Pace I believe he has been more then decent. Actually pretty damn good.
The double digit sack guy we have been looking for is currenrtly on the roster and we will find out who that is by week 16 .I say either Barnes or Wilkerson
As far as free agency needs i see us looking at Safteys and WRs more then anything else,I see us going after a TE in the first round or a RB
Not sure I understand all this talk about spending money on the OL. Unless Ducasse/Austin aren't re-signed I think that unit is pretty well set except for perhaps better depth. Winters,Campbell & Aboushi are long term projects who should compete as early as next year. One should be able to replace Colon... What am I missing here?
I was hoping Jets would take him instead of Geno. Not that I don't like Geno, but I still think they should have taken Moore over Geno. Jets would be in a prime situation to go after QB and his weapons after this season, if that happened.
Has D. Moore had ANY impact with the Giants? That defense has been really bad. I wanted Gio Bernard in the 2nd...
I liked Moore too..but he ended up going an entire round later. Rex was reportedly at his pro day & made a discouraging remark. Guy had off the field concerns & lousy workouts both in terms of metrics & movements. On field production rules the day...but those other elements also have to play a part.
the saints have serious cap issues ... if graham fights for a WR designation (which he should given how much he plays in the slot), the saints will have a hard time fitting that franchise number under their cap but i agree about byrd ... him along with a cheaper, stop gap, pass rush option like cliff avril (who is likely to be released) would set this defense up as the best in the league byrd and graham or findley should be our top FA targets imo
