I expected a 4-12 season. Defense improving, Geno struggling really badly with no help on offense (which happened in New England), however, that win yesterday gave me a little hope for this year that they won't be nearly as bad and be closer to .500.

Smith looks really confident. Nothing seems to really faze him. Makes some mistakes and still dares to throw the ball. Wish he could have gotten that win in Foxboro.

The team looked overall as good and complete as its been in forever, only the penalties and Geno's rookie mistakes kept Buffalo in the game. This team could be 3-0 if it weren't for that turd Clyde Gates, as the defense looks like a monster.

Let's see what happens after they play Tennessee. Things could change real quick. But now, there's definitely hope.

I'm expecting a six or seven win season. Our offense looked good against the Bills but fairly bad against both the Bucs and Patriots. We've got a much tougher stretch of games coming up that will be more telling of what this team really is.

Still, like what I'm seeing so far. I just hope Geno cuts down on the turnovers.

Most of knew we weren't the worst team in the league and that if the Offense could be half as good as the Defense we'd be competing week in and week out

Well this defense is going to keep us in every game.. The games against Atlanta, Pittsburgh and New England all of a sudden do not look so tough.

Defense keeps playing lights out and Geno keeps airing it out and limiting the turnovers, 6-1 really does not seem out of the question.

    I still say 6-10.

I'm really surprised by how well our rush defense performs. And also our secondary has some potential to be better than what I thought.

But besides that? Heh. I think Jets fans are too quick to praise Geno. We need to see more games. Its like you guys pass off his flaws as rookie mistakes. But any little good thing he does yall treat it as some majestic mountains.

6-1 seems very out of the equation

I'm definitely pleased with what I saw yesterday but let's not forget almost all of the bills secondary and some d line were out of the game. They hardly fielded an nfl secondary yesterday.

Regardless the jets offense capitalized but let's not get carried away

Expectations are still the same. 8-8ish season. Defense as expected would cause havoc. Thought the offense would be much better but we are literally in top 10 category total yardage wise.

Tennessee is a very winnable game, Atlanta's offense is overrated, Pittsburgh is horrendous and that brings New England who we almost beat and we will be out for revenge that game...

Why does that sound so far-fetched?

I went from thinking 6 wins to now thinking 8-9 is possible. Our schedule is weird, some of the hard games look a little easier now (Steelers, Falcons), while some of our supposed easier games look harder (Miami twice, Titans). Based on what I've seen through 3 weeks, the only top 5 team we'll play all season might be the Saints.

Maybe this says more about how you grade teams in the offseason than it does about reality.

I had them winning 7 games on the strength of the defense and an improving offense from last season. This team is going to face some tough teams this season.

Hopefully Geno continues to improve and Santonio stays healthy.

Hopefully they don't deal with stupid penalties all season.

Hopefully MM doesn't revert to Philly form and completely abandon the run.

Hopefully a lot of other things too.

Week 3 is a nice initial gauge of performance, but 16 games in the NFL is a long season.

My worst case to have something to play for in the second half was 5-4 after 9 with a bit of an easier schedule in the last 7. The defense playing as solid as they are i think the can take the Titans and the Steelers. That gets them 4 wins.

Can they steal one against the Saints, Bengals, Falcons, or Pats - of the 4 i say Pats or Saints at home are the best bets.

I respect your enthusiasm, but this thread is about expectations. I'll admit I was very optimistic coming into this seasons - predicting 8-10 wins depending on our luck. Based on the D, and the apparent increasing continuity of the offense, my expectations have been raised to the higher end of my prediction, most likely 9, maybe even 10 wins.

6-1, while great, is just not very likely. While we should appreciate the good record, and the opportunity to be 3-1 Sunday evening, we should also temper our expectations so as to not get our hopes up.

If we are 4-3 after the Pats game, I think we should all be VERY happy. Not many of us would have had us at that record before the season. And while 5-2 would be incredible (albeit unlikely), and 3-4 would be rather disappointing (given our start) if can go .500 over the next 4 games, we'll be 4-3. And that will set us up to be in the drivers seat for a wildcard spot going into the 2nd half of the season.

Since before the preseason I've been saying 8-9 wins. Right now I'm thinking that's right about where we are. I don't see us losing 7+ with the defense we have, even if the offense plays weak to mediocre. No chance they play as bad as last season. There's a good chance we'll be 3-1 going into the tough part of the schedule. From there we'll really see what we are capable of. Steelers & Falcons are both in that tough stretch, but now I'm thinking those teams are a bit over rated and we could very well come off with at least 1 win out of the 2, maybe even take both if the cards fall right. Then NE at home, Bengals on the road and Saints at home. The Bengals game will probably be the toughest match of the year for us. I can't see us winning it, without multiple defensive scores. Saints will be tough, NE I never really know what to expect. After those 5 games we hit the bye week, then resume a fairly easy schedule. Dolphins will probably be 2 tough games as well, Baltimore could be pretty tough, but the rest isn't bad at all with the Browns, Panthers and Raiders in the mix.

Let's see - a gift win over a bad Tampa Bay team, beaten by a New England team that's a shadow of its former self, and a skin of the teeth win against a bad Buffalo team. Nope, my outlook hasn't changed at all, although I predicted a loss to Tampa, so they may win 5 games instead of 4.

I would be very pleased with finishing the season 8 and 8. Yes we have some winnable games. Browns/Oakland at home, and although the Steelers look awful, they always play us well.
I think we split Miami, maaaaaybe split NE, and the Bills.
Road games are ALWAYS tough and if we play anything like we played the Bills yesterday we lose both (Atlanta/Titans) So hoping for a split.
We will probably split the Saints/Bengals, and Ravens Panthers.

Let just take it one game at a time. We do have a rookie QB so u don't know what we will get week in and week out.

    I believe I said 4-12 initially.

IF they knock the TOs down, I believe they could go .500

I love what I see w/ Geno, yes, he is making rookie mistakes but he also looks poised and pulls the ball down and takes off at very appropriate times.
